Weird. I said on the NWS Upton FB Page that a WWA is necessary and they posted it after I had mentioned it.

... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST FRIDAY...

* LOCATIONS... SOUTHWEST CONNECTICUT... LOWER HUDSON VALLEY OF NY... MUCH OF NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY... NEW YORK CITY AND NASSAU COUNTY.

* HAZARD TYPES... WET SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 5 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.

* TEMPERATURES... IN THE LOWER 30S.

* TIMING... PERIODS OF LIGHT SNOW... BECOMING STEADY AFTER MIDNIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW MAY FALL AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS... ACCUMULATING SNOW ON ROADWAYS COULD LEAD TO DIFFICULT TRAVELING CONDITIONS THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. THE HEAVY... WET SNOW... COMBINED WITH GUSTY WINDS COULD LEAD TO DOWNED TREE BRANCHES... AND POWER LINES.

* WINDS... NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW... SLEET... OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES... AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Slushy coating on cars/grass, nothing on anything paved still. "High-end light" snow coming down now. Again, a degree or two drop in temps or heavier intensity would be great.

I think will do ok. I left swim practice at hofstra at 1015 with an inch on the ground only to go home to Wantagh where there WAS nothing. Now its coming down pretty good here and starting to slush up.

That's amazing here there's nothing much going on rain mixed with snow still maybe half half,

Also helps that I am up in the hills by the Douglaston golf course.

Been a few events since I moved here where coming home nothing at the bottom and then starts to stick on the way up.....cool to see for being in Queens no less

JFK running lower 33f than cpk 34f or lga 35 and snowing there while it raining and snowing in Brooklyn really strange night.

All the wunderground stations around LGA are 33-33.6 degrees.

I'm 33.4 degrees in Astoria.

And LGA is 34 now.

Wow at that 5.4 in armonk! that is less than 10 miles away from me on a line, i have maybe 1"

It's the elevation I think for them, it's just been hard to accumulate here. I think that's about to change though, I would expect our totals to start climbing soon, it's finally sticking to paved surfaces with a solid coating, a little over an inch on the grass. 32.7, SN
