jm1220
GFS shifted east not much in NJ/NYC Given radar so far, it's likely to be wrong. Radar is filling in almost to Philly.
Superstorm93
Pretty good band over the Hudson Valley. Should shift SW with time.
SR Airglow
GFS out to lunch and dosen't match up with radar, tossing it. Going 70/20/10 EURO/RGEM/NAM, 4-6" here final call. Got scared this morning when the RGEM went way easy, but it was overcorrection, it shifted back some. NAM only gets a token inclusion because it refuses to back down, usually it would cave 3 hours before the event, but it's not going to, so give it a chance... -skisheep
battlebrick
Couple of good bands propagating from NE --> SW in NJ.. doesn't look like it is sticking though.
jm1220
Pretty good band over the Hudson Valley. Should shift SW with time. band.png Nice convergence area there it looks like. It's trying to shift into the NYC area but nothing much happening here in Midtown yet.
SACRUS
still looks to be 2-4 inches Radar looks like it potentially in NENJ/NYC not the 18z gfs.

chietanen
Man..Hudson Valley looks like its getting totally smoked on radar right now! Snow is light to moderate in intensity in Fishkill for the past 1-2 hours, just started sticking in the past twenty minutes or so, have a dusting so far. Right now, I'd estimate about 1/2 mile visibility. Should start to accumulate quickly as the sun goes down.
PB GFI
The radar is further west very early. Hopefully a good sign when the better lifting comes later If the euro is just 50 miles too far east in its solution then we start the winter with an overperformer back in nov and end it with one as well

Right now, I'd estimate about 1/2 mile visibility. Should start to accumulate quickly as the sun goes down. Once the sun goes down it should have no problem accumulating on the roads.. Right now its accumulating on grassy areas/trees/car tops.
sferic
Going to be a fun night, hopefully all of us in Eastern NJ, NYC, Westchester, CT and Long Island make up for yesterday and get a nice plastering of 6 inches. I'll settle for 3 inches though. Those NAM clown maps for Long Island are awesome but let's see where the bands set up...Not out of the question isolated spots where the bands setup and train can get in excess of 8 inches. I don't think anyone tonight will be dissapointed. If this runs its course to noon tomorrow this can be VERY interesting.
Superstorm93
Kinda cool out now. Pretty heavy snow with occasional gusts of wind bringing in sheets of snow. Feels colder as well. 38 dBZ echoes just to my east

nyblizz44
Flurries have switched to light snow in past 10 minutes in queens. Kaner587
the radar is very encouraging, especially considering our best dynamics don't get in here until about 03z (10pm) and persist for about 6-9 hours.

But models now seem to show this going until perhaps noontime tomorrow.
Superstorm93
Kinda optimistic about picking up 1-3" here just looking at recent trends. Radar has filled in very nicely over the past few hours and vertical velocities have also increased directly over the Hudson Valley. 100% snow here. Snow_Miser
Big burst of precipitation occuring over eastern Somerset County. As others have said, this looks pretty encouraging. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=dix&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=yes
SR Airglow
Eh I'm in the green echoes in CT and it's just light snow that is sticking to nothing Nothing is going to start sticking until after sundown at the earliest, the sun is killing us... After 8 or so we should start to accumulate, I think you should verify 4-6", and a nice shot at above that depending on banding. -skisheep

Kaner587
in addition to the radar looking encouraging, the moderate snow will help cool the column so we may actually realize sub-freezing temps overnight.
