33andrain
Dover radar is really looking nice now. I'm starting to look for any little ray of hope here, this is sad.
PhineasC
It has little to do with the banding, it's more to do with the BL temps. OK, so I should still expect my 1.50" of precip?
clueless
Cashing in here. This stuff is so heavy that accum have been impacted. But it is not letting up.

real
All rain in DC. Driving around earlier, some of the blocked storm drains were resulting in big puddles. If some of the heavy bands set up, we may need urban flash flood warnings.
Dalfy
We finally chnged over in college park, hopefully it stays that way for at least a brief period.

Terpeast
Lesson learned, lower heights in cut-offs > elevation + latitude. Agreed. That will probably be a big part of the post mortem analysis.

TalcottWx
OK, so I should still expect my 1.50" of precip? Literally fighting a losing argument, this storm with current qpf as snow would still be a substantial snowstorm. Your attributing it to banding, have you looked at radar? jnis
Starting to pick up again here. .5 vis with gusty NE winds.
HighStakes
Snow picking up here again but were fighting a losing battle. After the initial 4-5 this morning there was a long lull between 8:30 - 11:00. So close to being a great event, just missed by a couple degrees and a few better bands. When I got up this morning at 6 it looked like a real snowstorm, now not so much. Just too much melting and compacting. We finally got more than 3 for an event and it is March so all in all a good day.
Solo2
With these rates, etc I bet we switch over to rain in FDK before long...

vastateofmind
Snow has returned in past 15 minutes -- seems to flip back and forth between moderate and light every few minutes. Winds gusts to 30mph have also increased in that time, temp has dropped two degrees back DOWN to 36. Tired of the tease.

BaltimoreWxGuy
Literally fighting a losing argument, this storm with current qpf as snow would still be a substantial snowstorm. Your attributing it to banding, have you looked at radar? I think the answer is in the middle...at least for up near Baltimore....Rates and banding were not good enough overnight to overcome the BL when it had a chance to be snow and get our 2-4" early thump forecasted by some....Now, well the BL is just way too overwhelming even with good banding right now
bigjohndc
In the last ten minutes its has switched for a light mix to heavy wet snow. Not sticking.
PhineasC
Literally fighting a losing argument, this storm with current qpf as snow would still be a substantial snowstorm. Your attributing it to banding, have you looked at radar? Precip totals will likely verify way below modeled. I don't think you can say that wasn't a factor. Back to light rain here. wxmeddler
You take the NAM 4km precip from the 0z run for 17z and divide it by 2 and this you have what the current precip is.
