psuhoffman
We got some heavy snow for a few hours early this morning, picked up a quick 5" but since about 8am its been just very light snow, not accumulating. Banding has been south and west of this area.
mikes923
Snow has slowly taken over for the past 45 mins or so. Best since sunrise Id say. Vis. estimate 3/4 of a mile
NJ_Ken
You are 1 mile from skyline dr. Head up there if it isnt closed. If its closed head up there tomorrow morning. I am sure its heavy up on top of the mountains. I just passed 12" for the event. Unless I misread, Skyline Drive closed last night at 5 pm, and, as far as I know, it has not yet reopened. It makes sense. It can be tricky at times in perfect weather, and, with 1+ feet of snow, it is going to be treacherous at best, if not completely impassable (except maybe in a Sno Cat). PhineasC
not 100% sure, but I may have just heard thunder in Harford County. Strong rain now It feels sort of like a weak tropical storm right now. Fun stuff.
NJwinter23
Heavy/moderate snow has been falling here for the past two hours. I am in Herdon. The road in front of my apartment in snow covered. The plows have been by a few times. I can see 267 from the windows in our stairwell, and the cars were moving along pretty well the last time I checked. How much you got on the grass
Terpeast
i think the low was too close for comfort, and there wasn't a lot of cold air wrapping into this thing. seems like this is mostly elevation driven. pretty much the story of the season except this just has a lot more moisture. similar result though. Good points. I also think that there is too much of an easterly or even ESE wind there, while the N/W suburbs of DC and points SW have more of a ENE or northerly component, which helps draw the cold in, keeping them all SN. When the models shifted the fall line SE yesterday, we expected that to happen when in reality the fall line seems to be right along I-95. The low is so close to Richmond and yet they are getting SN, reporting north winds.
Solo2
No rates=temps soaring into the 34 range. In many ways this is worse than knowing you aren't going to get snow...

The fall line is not the exact marker. There is some sort of weird N/S orientation going on.
87storms
The low is pretty close to Richmond and they are getting blitzed. how much of that is sticking? yet, go towards the west and it is. western points have it best...away from the warmer ocean waters and better elevation. stormtracker
Flipped to rain. Barely covering the grass. Roads went slushy and started to pile during the heavy stuff but losing ground now . Well, we needed a new March storm to curse. 3/5/2001 was getting stale.
PhineasC
I'm all snow, it has briefly been even moderate to heavy with huge flakes. .3/.4sm Sheesh, finally. Maybe the R/S line is moving east a little.
mitchnick
Why? The storm is just starting for DC...tons of heavy precip rotating in on DOX....and you have the pivot of the deformation band near RIC. Richmond and west are getting it because they are under the 5H vort we won't be

Rhode Islander in Balto
Temps have finally dropped, 35.2/34.9 respectively in Parkville, and I'm starting to get more wind readings out of the ENE. Still in a ra/sn transition.
