heavensbee
Really? I'm in CP and haven't seen heavy snow all morning. Some maybe moderate... You're right, it was more moderate than anything else. And it lasted all but 5-10 minutes before mixing again.
SpringfieldSkins
West Springfield, heavy snow. Parking lots are slushy, snow starting to stick well there. Main roads are lightly slushed, worse where traffic doesn't pass as much. Edit: about 3" in the grass.
Deck Pic
Desperately trying to stick to hard surfaces. The issue for us is 1/4 or 1/8 mi viz for a sustained time..if we can't get that, then we are screwed

J.Mike
Stay classy, DT. Right And let's hope that all those vile despicable arrogant weather ass wipes and weenies in New York City and New England get screwed over from the storm big time.
smokeybandit
And so it begins. Each NWS forecast update reduces the final totals by an inch or two.

33andrain
Temp at Parkville middle school keeps creeping up, now at 35.8. I was looking forward to taking my 4 year old son sleding for the first time. mattie g
Looks like Burke will get mauled in the next 15 minutes or so. Hefty dbz headed that way. Starting to pick up a little again. Fingers crossed. haudidoody
Definitely getting some melting here now. Almost a sleet sound. Very light otherwise.
WinterWxLuvr
Even if it does, as we head towards max sun angle it's going to be tough to overcome that sudden warming and melting that occurred when the sun came out. Snow sticks to snow very well.

AmericanWxFreak
sbox_wx, which app is that? That's the best radar I've seen on Android. 34 degrees, heavy snow right now, winds picking up -- went to back to sleep for a couple hours and the ~1.5" we had at 4:30 a.m.-ish compacted to under an inch here, but with current snowfall rate it's re-stacking quickly and sticking to pavement again. Looks like RadarScope to me...

Eskimo Joe
Taking a look at the infrared / water vapor loop it is clear we are in a relative lull as energy transfers from the Ohio Valley low to the coastal. Infrared imagery as of 10:00 am shows a progressive cooling and westward expansion of cloud tops as the coastal low really gets cranking. This is translating to a notable increase in banding on Sterling and Dover radars. Still confident in another round of accumulating snows, especially west of I-95. EastCoast NPZ
Wow. Congrats. 4" here, and with the lull in precip its jumped to 34 degrees. Winds have turned to the NW, so not expecting much more from the bands to the east. Thanks. Best storm since Feb 6, 2010. Had this been a few degrees colder it would've been huge. TowsonWeather
Pretty ugly here in Towson...the inch or so we got overnight has been steadily eroding/melting, and it's just a nasty and persistent RA/SN mix that refuses to stick to anything. I fail to see how we can turn this around - even with big rates, it's just too warm. What a terrible bust... Happy for everyone out west getting pounded, but this is pretty heartbreaking. bmc10
How is Baltimore fairing? Any accumulating snow going to occur there?
FrederickWX
Still very light snow, but sky has brightened considerably. Some melting is occurring. It may snow on and off the rest of the day, but if it doesn't get a lot heavier, for a long period of time, I don't see how I get any more to accumulate on top of the 3 inches that fell overnight here. NWS will need to start reducing forecast totals soon. Nice for March, and I'm OK with it, but sun angle is killer. Too bad we didn't get this in January. Anyway, once this storm is over, I go into Spring mode.
