NWS Monthly Weather Summaries

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for archived (and free) Monthly Weather Summaries (CLM) like the message below.  My local WFO website only has them for the previous 12-calendar months.  Spent 20 minutes on the NCDC website this morning and I find it about the most confusing website I've ever browsed (let's just say I didn't get anywhere).  I'm looking for a archive of these messages that extends back several years.  Does one exist?

Somebody on this weather board told me of this web site:

http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/IPS/

You can look at "local climatological data" for free. This is probably what you are looking for.

Thank you for the recommendation.  That is a great site that I will definitely find useful, however what I'm really looking for, the "average sky cover" in the CLM report seemed to be missing from the data on the above site, at least for Cleveland.  Apparently the NWS doesn't use the "minutes of sunshine" instruments anymore so I must use averaged data from METARs and ceilometer hits, but that data wasn't available on the local climatological data summaries.  I'm specifically looking for monthly sky cover averages for winter months going back about 5 years for various cities in the Great Lakes and southern Canada.
