PrinceFrederickWx
I can tell many of you weren't living here (or were too young) during March 2001.
ravensrule
For three years now, the southern VA to Boston connection has been strong for snow. Boxing Day, ever and ever. Now you can have a total meltdown, this is one of the most painful busts in my 37 years of living here. The only more painful one was I think it was 2001 and on Friday night they were calling for 12-18" here and at the last moment the storm went due east at ORF and we had sunny skies Saturday morning. 87storms
I can tell many of you weren't living here (or were too young) during March 2001. That was a bust for ppl that thought it would snow a foot the day after temps around 60 and a south wind. I didn't buy into that one like I did this one. I'd have to say this was worse. gymengineer
I'm glad I gave 60/40 odds on 4+" for us to my coworkers and mentioned the possibility of mix/change to rain. It really was last night's 0Z runs that ruined it because I was pretty nervous before that.

snownut
Final call here in Boyce. 10.5 " ... all reports there is more at my WV place which would get me over 30" on the season. Not a bad winter west of the Blue Ridge.

real
I can tell many of you weren't living here (or were too young) during March 2001. I was. Sort of think this is almost as bad. In this day and age, storms are hyped (named), blogged about, gossiped about, all over Internet for days, more than they were back then. So when it doesn't happen, think average people will remember more.

jacindc
Hopefully the real lasting legacy of this storm in DC will be to end the naming of them, especially when it's tied more to attempts for social media traffic a couple of days ahead of the supposed storm itself. (I doubt TWC will back off anytime soon.)

Rib
Only a few of us today were on WWBB for March 2001 but I saw your WSW's and March 2001 was 10x as bad. Models were spitting out 2-3 feet of snow with a stalled low sub 970 off the Jersey Shore. I still have my flashlight that I got for the storm that ended up being an inch of sleet. Comparing this bust to March 2001 is like comparing the Nats AA team to their MLB team.
Ian
Perfect end to the winter for DC at least IMO. Couldn't have scripted it much better. Bob Chill might make it a movie.
