I cant believe that DT guy was such a jerk on his FB page, then publicly apologized for "busting" before the storm even hit and is now gloating about how his forecast was right

he may be a good meterologist but he can't spell and he's very unprofessional.

Seriously, we went from still questioning everything, then 10 minutes later TWC posts there RPM and NWS goes nuts

there was definitely a crazed atmosphere for a while there.. short range models went nuts, nam followed.. gfs pounded the area (but in a pretty small circle). no question imo everyone fed off eachother and reacted to eachother. everyone upped their totals within 30-60 min of one another.

You beat me to it...

For years now, I've been mixing the Mt. Holly forecast with the forecast out of Sterling.  Being so close to Bay ALWAYS throws us some twist on the predictions.  Splitting it down the middle?  Bayside areas get 2 inches of slush tonight.

Statement as of 12:07 PM EST on March 06, 2013

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 3 am EST
Thursday...

* precipitation type... snow.

* Accumulations... 8 to 14 inches... up to 24 inches at higher
elevations.

* Timing... snow will continue throughout the day... then taper off
during the late evening. Snow will be heavy at times during the
afternoon... with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
during this time.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* Impacts... heavy wet snow and gusty winds will lead to power
outages. Snow covered roads and poor visibilities in heavy
snow will make driving extremely difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

This storm is pretty cool if you give up on the idea of big accumulations and just enjoy it.

No, not really.

I've had significantly better car-toppers this year alone. No offense, but my half-inch of rapidly melting slush and cold rain isn't getting me amped.

You are very optimistic :)

You would think they would learn but they don't
