NattyBo
just woke up. well, I woke up at 6 and didn't like what I saw so I decided to sleep until it got good. Honestly, I was never fully sold on the front end waa stuff. I bought in yesterday afternoon but I had a feeling it wouldn't go nutz until the lp started cranking. And here we are. Woke up at 4:30, kid woke up at 5, ended up staying up.. It's been a long wait for a payoff! It's finally sticking to the street down here in 20851. ravensrule
Almost everybody on the board is going to be freaking out by lunchtime or so. Thunder in RIC is very telling. The main show is really only getting started. Also a lot of lightning strikes south and east of DCA now so that should bode well for heavier precip as well. RickinBaltimore
we may need group therpy for the pasadena to BWI to balt city posters soon if this doesn't changeover. My wife has insisted from jump that we don't see a single flake out of this here. I'm starting to think the hell with the models just go on what she says... terpsnation
I was rather disappointed when I woke up and the scene outside looked almost identical to what it was when I went to sleep at 3. Bob Chill has calmed my nerves.

It may not be the widespread 12"+ that people were hoping for. I stuck with 6-8 for a long time irt expectations but bumped it to 8-10 last night. I think my late call is good but not much upside bust potential. Well, i suppose I could bust low if this stayed over my house all day:

mattie g
F'ing plows. Nowhere to be seen when we had 20+" twice in 2009-2010, but they can find their way to my cul-de-sac for an event like this.

Ike
Pretty pitiful here so far, but congratulations to those out in Virginia who are getting blasted by this. Pretty amazing stuff to see; who would have expected thundersnow in March?

Pityflakes
If we can get under a band like this after 2p-3p tonight I think we can pick up a few quick inches on the tail-end, but so far I'm kind of liking my contest call of 3" for DCA.
spf
Looks like a very nice yellow band on radar cutting a swath through Gatihersburg and then across the Potomac into Great Falls, Reston, Herndon, Sterling.

spf
While stickage is an issue, it's nice to see consistent snow flakes flying through the sky after a few years. Enjoy it guys. It's beautiful coming down.

caviman2201
Welp... I went to bed at 1am watching snow fall and looked outside at 7am to see a driving rainstorm with 0.0" of snow on the ground. I drive from northern AA Co to Bowie and saw a total of 5 flakes splat and instantly melt on my windshield. This has been an awesome storm so far. mdhokie
I think the clown maps were probably pretty accurate, maybe a tad on the high side. If you want to see any accumulation you need to be west of a line going vertical through DC. .
Bob Chill
I highly recommend clicking this link http://weather.cod.edu/buildmap/nexrad_build.php and running the full loop for AKQ (closest dot to richmond). Great stuff. Really shows the birth of the cylcone and intensification process.
