Pityflakes
If we can get under a band like this after 2p-3p tonight I think we can pick up a few quick inches on the tail-end, but so far I'm kind of liking my contest call of 3" for DCA.
spf
Looks like a very nice yellow band on radar cutting a swath through Gatihersburg and then across the Potomac into Great Falls, Reston, Herndon, Sterling.
North Balti Zen
holy hell march sucks it refuses to stick well Winter really is over on February 31st here.
spf
While stickage is an issue, it's nice to see consistent snow flakes flying through the sky after a few years. Enjoy it guys. It's beautiful coming down.
Mrs.J
It is like someone is constantly shaking a snow globe out there and not letting it settle.
North Balti Zen
Those clown maps that were painting me with 3 inches of paste were way too high...
PrinceFrederickWx
This is exactly how March 2001 panned out- the changeover time kept getting pushed back. Its still rain here.

caviman2201
Welp... I went to bed at 1am watching snow fall and looked outside at 7am to see a driving rainstorm with 0.0" of snow on the ground. I drive from northern AA Co to Bowie and saw a total of 5 flakes splat and instantly melt on my windshield. This has been an awesome storm so far. mdhokie
I think the clown maps were probably pretty accurate, maybe a tad on the high side. If you want to see any accumulation you need to be west of a line going vertical through DC. .
Bob Chill
I highly recommend clicking this link http://weather.cod.edu/buildmap/nexrad_build.php and running the full loop for AKQ (closest dot to richmond). Great stuff. Really shows the birth of the cylcone and intensification process.

Yeah everyone here says to disregard them but the GFS map repeatedly showed that exact scenario happening.

mdhokie
This storm is like asking out the hot girl at school, she says yes, then a couple days later dumps you in front of the whole cafeteria, and kicks you in the nuts while walking away. Moderate rain. 80% of my snow from overnight is gone.

NattyBo
Am I really going to break the 2" streak here? I'm beginning to doubt....
gymengineer
It really needed to be sticking to grass better by now to get into the higher forecast range around DC metro. It was never going to be a big road accumulator based on temperatures, but I thought grass had a chance. The precip is there and building, but temperatures just aren't cooperating. It's going to snow for about 8 more hours--- hopefully we can get at least 3" into DC and 5" here.

How much more will depend on how lucky we can get later. 12-4 should be prime time for rates.
RickinBaltimore
My 3 year old just made my day...."Where's the snow daddy? You promised snow" ****ing hell. Next winter we have got to get better right? RIGHT?

mattie g
Hello from RVA! 2 inches in the Fan, 1 mile west of VCU. And this is for the DC/Balt crowd thinking that the MA forums are exclusively for them. This was taken 30 minutes ago when we were just starting to accumulate. Thanks, DT.But if you really want to go there, you're not really hurting the feelings of those of us that have more snow than you.
joc111
Here in Alexandria, we have changed "snowquester" to simply "snow quest," because we're still searching for meaningful accumulating snow.
