Ike
While the actual accumulation isn't that impressive here, it's very obvious just how heavy this snow is. It hasn't rained near me yet, but there are huge, wet drops falling from every branch and the snow itself squelches on harder surfaces. If this actually were piling up on pavement, it wouldn't be much fun to shovel.

WeatherSeeksBalance
Nice big flakes coming down steady in Frederick, MD (near Ballenger Creek). I am optimistic that the storm will continue to ramp up throughout the morning.
Ike
so many people complaining It's worth remembering that we are in March of a pretty poor snow season. Maybe we're not all being buried alive, but it's still a rare event to see. Besides that, there's plenty of storm still to come for the area. Edit: Good lord, look at those flakes. It's been a while since I've seen them that size.

Mrs.J
Just took the trash out. Really did not feel like snow out there. Felt more like a damp rainy day. MY BYWS says 93% humidity out. All the closings make me chuckle. Where I grew up people would be questioning why schools and businesses are closed. Hope I have to eat my words later. Herb@MAWS
Have TWC on in background. Just heard my daytime snow forecast went down from 5-8" to 4-6". Neither would disappoint me. I had to have my NE.WX Contest forecasts for this storm entered by 10pm Monday. Locally, I went with: BWI: 7.5 IAD: 9 DCA: 3.5 I'm sure I'll bust for PHL and most points north as I was expecting a more ENE track from the mid-Atl coast on Monday evening. Mrs.J
Ok really need some input. Roads are clear, my husband works in Rockville and is debating whether or not to go down. If he goes down is this thing really going to get its act together and he have a crappy drive back or is what we are seeing is what we get. mattskiva
About 1" here on hard surfaces and roads, 3" on grass/mulch. Insanely high water content. Looking at the trees is making me nervous. Crazy to hear reports of rain 10 miles east of here. 33/

I'll enjoy it, too, but knowing that the precip is out there and I have the right conditions for it to stick...it just sucks a little. I impatient, but I'm able to wait for it to start cranking. A few more inches would make this a big win. Then it better get warm.

If he goes down is this thing really going to get its act together and he have a crappy drive back or is what we are seeing is what we get. There's likely to be some good bands between FDK and Rockville setting up during the day today. Could really slow things down, even on the highway, from time to time. North Balti Zen
so many people complaining Guilty. And don't feel bad about venting a bit. This is a terrible event so far down by me. Maybe it saves later, but this is a perfect capper to a terrible winter (two winters) at this point.

Good luck! I don't understand how you can have a developing radar in front of you and not see that this going to be awesome! Yeah, the streets will be a slushy mess but it's March! And tonight, once the sun sets, it's going to be chaos on the roads. Thanks for dropping in. I read your stuff a lot.
