March 6th Storm Banter Thread

Coming form another subforum to say how the storm is going to underperform!?!? ....probably not a good idea.

Anyone with a grain of common sense/life experience would realize that is not going to go over to well. Especially without facts.

Posting the annoying LWX snowfall map probably did not help.

It has been a few days since I posted in a different subforum. And even then, I just started posting on Americanwx last month.

I presented why I thought DC would underperform. I think the snow that falls will be very heavy and very wet. Water-laden aggregates do not accumulate easy...at least, not as easy as a drier snow. That's a perfectly good explanation for a lower snow total.

...and since when was posting the latest forecast from an official source a bad thing?

you came in and offered a big bunch of stupid, none of it backed up by science, and contrary to the actual facts. smells like deliberate trolling to me.

Well it wasn't my intention, if that's how is came across. Contrary to the behavior of much of my generation, I like having educated weather discussions with others.

Crazy that we'll be breaking the streak with a big storm like this. Should be a fun upcoming 24 hours

This was my hope all along, to blow it away, rather than squeak by with barely over 2" and say we finally got more than 2.  If this pans out, it would be like coming out of an awful batting slump with a 4 home run game and 10 RBIs or something like that.

Im sure the pros forgot to consider ratios, compaction and melting. Have you called ERH to tell them about your epiphany? I'm sure they would be appreciative.

Is anyone else watching TWC right now?

Lmao.  Jim Cantore has me crying with laughter.

YES.  This is the fourth time I've seen the tornado/car safety tips on TWC.  Watching Cantore run into a ditch, throw himself to the ground, and yell, "I'm in the lowest point of this ditch!  Here comes the tornado!" with an agonized look on his face has made this night even better.

TWC drinking game, anyone?

I'm all for caution (and most people in this forum are about the most cautious, we always wait for the other shoe to drop!).  But really, come on.  Well respected mets and others in here are pretty well in agreement on a major event.  I think we all know we're not going to be getting powder out of this.

I got 8" of water-laden aggregates in about 5 hours during Commutageddon in 2011 with temperatures just above freezing throughout.
