terpsnation
MN Transplant posts always make me cry a little. His matter-of-fact way of scientifically pointing out the worst aspect of every run cuts right to the bone. Couldn't agree with you more. The storm thread went something like this. "It's colder" "Definitely colder" "Yep, looking to be colder to me" MN Transplant: "It's still rain though"

blueapple
Sue Palka just did her forecast showing what the NAM, GFS, and Euro had -- then she displayed the RPM, with scale at the bottom. She then added her snow totals on top of the map, but just cutting down the totals. Her 4-8 is really 6-12, and the 8-12 is really 12-18. One thing to make your own map with bearish numbers, but to take one and just knock off 50% is something I haven't seen before.
Amped
GFS Phases @ 84hrs now!! Not a big deal here, but thats a big difference from 18z further north.
WinterWxLuvr
Unreal, 2 weeks ago we were dying for 2" and now 6-12" is not good enough Really. I looked at that run and thought it looked better towards DC and then read a post complaining about precip. WTH?

real
Doug Kamer on NBC 4 just opened up newcsat by showing the " just-in American model" (GFS) and it showed 12 inches in DC and 18 inches out west. Said he's upping his snowfall totals, and will show his forecast during his weather segment.

Subtropics
I gave myself a posting timeout until it snowed 2'' at DCA. At this point I think it is a lock for DCA to record 2''. If I jinx this by coming back early...

MidlothianWX
As a former hokie, I'd be remiss not to plug in Virginia Tech, and as a former Fredericksburg resident...tech >> Mary Wash (edit: depending on what you want to do). However, that said...Blacksburg tends to be a snow anus getting cold/freezing rains when the surrounding mountains get all snow. Come summer you get some decent boomers where Fredericksburg tends to get split a lot and only gets snow marginally more than Richmond. Appreciate the comments. I am more interested in the environmental sciences so I would think that's an obvious checkmark in the Tech column. IRT the snow, I realize Blacksburg has somewhat of a snow bubble surrounding it but that is probably more contextual than anything. Zwyts at one point posted about how KBCB has had only 3 seasons in recorded history with less than 6". F'burg is slightly better for coastals obviously but if you get bombs like 93 and 96 it doesn't really matter.

PhineasC
with any luck he has been suspended from posting for a few days. For whatever reason a lot of mega-weenies like him who post non-stop during down periods disappear when a real threat emerges. Just something I've noticed. Maybe storm mode chases them off. EastCoast NPZ
Since SNE is too much in the air I've decided to head to Front Royal, VA...thoughts? Great coffee shop on Main St. (Daily Grind). Great Main St. in general. Very scenic, especially in snow. Should check it out while your in town.
WinterWxLuvr
I knew you were right on the precip front - blazeking being a little weird about precip (hence he is blazed lol). Yeah, I got it a few minutes later. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I don't know why, but his post made me mad. Just stupid. While I'm on a rant, where were these people when we were here creating 30 page threads for a half inch of snow. Now they're everywhere, bitching , moaning, worrying about not getting 3 feet of snow.
