Brewers
Moderate snow now, heavier returns over Chicago should make it up this way.
wisconsinwx
Mod snow at MKE. Time to up the totals there. Wagons north...as usual. Yeah, about 30 miles north from what last night's models were showing. I wouldn't worry about it that much.

A-L-E-K
9z SREF for LAF. looks like it's going to snow dude. I'm not buying the north shift yet...it was supposed to snow in MKE. Wait until we see the pivot. surface/700/850 all look well modeled by the globals

wisconsinwx
Much smaller flake size now but more numerous and the wind is blowing them horizontally, I was hoping the wind would be a tad less of a factor with this storm, but the slightly fluffier nature will enhance the horizontal component for sure. SchaumburgStormer
Is it just me or do te returns appear to be starting to pull to the NW? They appeared to be moving NE most of the morning
Chitown Storm
on the NEXRAD radar you can almost see the returns over LOT starting to become more N/S as opposed to easterly. It looks like returns heading north and about to pull back with a pivot. Very cool to see on radar.
A-L-E-K
Where/when is the pivot supposed to happen? I think western LOT looks prime for the best pivot point. 700/850 frontogenisis continues to increase over N. IL and we should see a trowal like feature swing through later this afternoon/early evening.
A-L-E-K
remind me again why people freaked out last night with the 00z NAM? LOT's best met found the decreasing QPF numbers troubling as well. BASED ON UNANIMOUS CONSENSUS FOR LOWER QPF AND RESULTANT SNOW AMOUNTS FROM ALL THE MODELS...INCLUDING A SREF PLUMES FOR ORD SHOWING A 6" DECREASE IN MEAN SNOWFALL FROM THE 15Z TO THE 03Z RUN...HAVE LOWERED SNOWFALL FORECAST RANGE TO 4 TO 8 INCHES... Chicago WX
Up to 37º on my thermometer with -RN falling. 12z RGEM has pushed changeover for here to 0z now, 3-4 hours later than previous runs.
wisconsinwx
Looks like Walworth and Jefferson Counties are getting smoked with consistent 25-30, occasionally 35dbz returns. Some of the higher totals should come from the I94 corridor between Madison and Milwaukee and just south.

Sorry, my comment was in response to the 'Wagons North' comments. The NAM last night showed wagons south and everyone freaked. The lower QPF numbers were across the board on all models it seemed so that was expected.

Chicago WX
They always go north in the end. 12z GFS has slashed snow totals for here. Time to downgrade for the LAF.

Luftfeuchtigkeit
Just sent in report to MKX. 2.5" here on MSN SW side, 0.6" last hour. Looking good to me so far, I think we're on track for at least 6". A bit surprised to see radar returns looking best just to the east of us this morning when I thought we were modeled to be on the NE edge of the heavy precip shield. Chicago WX
ILX radar has nice looking developing bands. Still some flakes mixed in here. Better returns seemingly trying to cool the column.
