ORH_wxman
The pattern is still looking ridiculous for at least another several days or perhaps even to the end of the month after the day 7 storm...so you don't have to bail if the Mar 18-19 threat doesn't work out. Didn't Mar 1942 have a biggie at the end of the month?
WxUSAF
I'm at 1.27" of rain on the day, and combined with the melt of the wet snow last week, the lower part of my yard now has almost 3" of standing water in it. I am more concerned at this point that my trees and flowers might drown. The 3 airports were all below normal for February (by 0.5-1") and up through yesterday, they were also below normal for March. Ian
Finally a voice of reason in here, glad to see you have been talking to Bob and Winterwxluvr.Too bad New England reason is no good down here. I mean yeah elevation but pushing late Mar is starting to seriously grasp elsewhere.

I think Will meant even around here but i am not sure. I am at 500' elevation and i think it will be rough for me just like you. Parrs ridge where Sparky PSU and High Stakes live may still have a decent chance until the end of the month. Me and you FTL.

There were 2 accumulating snows at lower elevations late in the season in 1990. One in late March and one in early April. Anything can happen so don't give up yet regardless of what others say. Since there's no real nice weather in site probably through the end of the month you my as well root for snow even if it is a slop event.

Have you taken into account the effect of increased solar heating at higher elevation due to lower air pressure? Since it's all about the sun and all. Since it's all about the sun and all. In all seriousness, and before I get myself banned, the effect of the sun at high elevation is pretty amazing. I've been in a high valley at 8,000 feet out west and seen it snow 3" overnight only to be gone by noon, despite temperatures never reaching 20 degrees. Water running down the street from snow melt with single digit temps. Fortunately we won't have that problem next week since rain doesn't melt. needbiggerboat
It's the same at night in March as it is in mid Jan. Not true. The sudden increase in daylight intensity from DST and the BAU lag in sun waves reaching Earth means the nighttime and the darkness are overall warmer. Darkness is colder in January.
