For you heat mongers, GFS has a 3 day stretch of 70s next thursday - Saturday...obviously little to no skill, especially with timing, but maybe we get some +5-+10's sometimes in the day 10 range

Do you have any thoughts on what kind of spring we're looking at ?  You nailed the theme of the winter with the late cold, and those Dec/Jan 5h analogs were a great call.

Hoping its not too dry like a Nina.

GFS is pretty cold wire to wire other than a random 65 or 2....and the GEFS is even colder

We flipped to a dominant -nao/ao regime in mid Feb. In winter, these patterns typically persist for 45-60 days. IMO- a relatively cool first half of april is more likely than a warm one.

I think the more interesting period comes after that. Does the pattern relax permanently or take a break and reload? I may have to run through some analogs and see if there are similar occurrences during the same timeframe.

Personally, I'd be thrilled with a normal to slightly below april/may. It's still nice and warm. Just not sweating bullets into my eyeballs warm.

So ya'll gonna try for one more on 4/3-4/4?

Euro is some good weenie fodder in the long range. Unlikely...but that is a crazy solution to see so late in the season. Its not even that marginal all things considered.

Go on.....

What does it show?

Out in clown range (day 8-9) so its really not worth getting too excited over, but its a moderate snowstorm for the suburbs for sure and even DC itself would likely see another 1-3 incher. Bulk falls at night. Cold looking profile.

It was more funny just to see another storm threat for DC now that its going into April.

Oh, trust me, I wasn't going to get excited.  The time has come to move on and I'm ready.   I was just curious as to what it showed.

I wasn't going to mention anything...

Euro shows l-m 60's Sun-Mon before a strong cold front.

SW digs through CO and traverses the country basically due E. SLP in front tacks the gulf states up into NC mtns and then looks like it reforms off the nc coast.

Unusually strong block and confluence over NE for the time of year. Plenty of teens and 20's in eastern canada.

But I'm done tracking for the season...

But can you deliver Spring?

I'm getting ready to go out for two months on medical leave. I want to be able to sit out in the yard, soaking up that medicinal high sun angle, listening to the soothing medicinal songs of the birds, sipping my medicinal beer. None of this cloudy, dreary, windy, rainy, yucky and plain 'ole shi-tty days. So now that Ian has cancelled winter, spring is sure to be sprung. Unless the Euro says otherwise. Damn Europeans.

I'm rooting for Ian's cancellation.

How much for Davis/Canaan?   :P  (edit: I am kidding of course, I know this is fantasyland and even if it was real, local totals are irrelevant until days beforehand)

I've got another sick day or two left - sounds like a trip to White Grass!

In all seriousness, with the October storm and monster March they are up to 220 inches on the season - wonder what the unofficial record is up there?
