wkd
Even if its a bust...these model runs have made my winter I couldn't agree more. 90% of the fun for me is anticipating the storm. As many times as I have told myself I'm not going to look at the models until 72 hours out, as soon as a model shows something 7 days out I end up looking at every run SICK, SICK, SICK. mattie g
I'll restate it here: I'd accept a foot of snow right now if it meant we got warm afterwards. http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php/topic/39448-late-february-2013-mid-long-range-discussion/?p=2162850

Casualbrain
I'm a weenie for sure but only get excited when the board goes into "Storm Mode" and I just get to watch everyone weenie out It's been flurries on/off for the past 3 days in Roanoke. Here's hoping we all get a major increase in snow totals next week.

Kmlwx
If this storm happens, I officially dub it SnowquestrationTM. I wouldn't worry - somebody already had that in mind probably. People lately seem to have an obsession with naming weather events. If it fails will it be Snowcastration?
Disc
I'm still waiting on the euro snow maps on WxBell to come out. They take forever, but the resolution is a lot better than what I've seen posted around so far.

Scraff
the 1.5" line cuts just north of DC and to the south of Balt so somewhere in that area. Thanks Ian. Hope we can hold serve for a few more days...

Bob Chill
Hypothetically speaking...IF DCA accidentally got 15" of snow and hit climo for the season....would we consider this a good winter? Does a one hit wonder as the door is closing on an awful awful season really make up for such an atrocious run of crap luck?
BTRWx
Now I will remember the the day the Euro GFS'ed the D.C. snow hole on the first day of meteorological spring.

Does a one hit wonder as the door is closing on an awful awful season really make up for such an atrocious run of crap luck? Right now I'd grade this winter as a D/D-. If I get a warning criteria snowstorm in March to round it out, I might raise it up to a C/C-. Even if I somehow get to climo snow with this storm (would take 18"), I'd still keep this winter as probably a C+ at best.
Bob Chill
I feel the same way WxUSAF. Last winter was an F-. We had a below normal month this winter and about 10 events that did drop *some* snow. I have to go D- because of the back to backs and not even breaking a stoopid 2" streak even with plenty of cold air to work with at times. IF we get pummeled (I'm ready for the gut punch) I would barely give it a C. A March fluke is more of a great single event memory than a season saver. We're kinda past the point of no return irt saving the season imo.

Does a one hit wonder as the door is closing on an awful awful season really make up for such an atrocious run of crap luck? No. March slop that will melt in 15 minutes doesn't nearly make up for such a horrendous string of winters. This winter (as well as these last 3 winters) deserves to live in infamy. No consolations, no asterisks, no nothing.
kurtstack
Any winter with an HECS is a good winter in DC. We are an all or nothing town. With all the models showing good snows over the NOVA area, and with Wes being as bullish as he ever gets at the 5-6 day mark, I'd have to say excitement is growing rapidly. It can all go to crap, but sure looks fantastic right now.
