beanskip
5h low a bit slower, but at 850, heights are lower than the 12z run. EDIT: Through 78 hours on 18z GFS vs. 12z run.
burgertime
18z looks a little bit south to me vs. 12z. Very hard to tell though. As skip pointed out it's def. slower.
beanskip
Was stronger through 81 hours than 12z run, but really slows down and appears weaker at 87 hours.
Nraleigh
In case anyone is interested, DT posted about 10 minutes ago... VA and DC gets crushed https://www.facebook.com/WxRisk?fref=ts I sure wish RDU would get hammered like he is saying central VA will be.
beanskip
Hmmmm -- 102 hours its slower, but it should be NW, not due W, of 12z run -- I would say this is going to be south. CORRECTION: 96 hours on 18z vs. 102 hours on 12z
burgertime
Weaker @102 and slower...appears to be going neutral to negative. looks like it's still positive @

beanskip
Burger is right -- tilt is much worse on this run, even though it's lagging behind.

burgertime
@108 it's a two contour closed low this should be juicy for 85 again.
burgertime
GFS is about to go BOOM all over western NC out to 114 with snow in the mountains and foothills breaking out.
burgertime
Yikes at the surface GFS does the old 7-10 split from around HKY to CLT.
griteater
Slightly better run than 12z, fo sho
burgertime
That said GFS still spits out probably .50 for MBY and west. HKY and points west east of CLT get in around 1 inch. I'll take this run any day.
MillerA
Yikes at the surface GFS does the old 7-10 split from around HKY to CLT. What is the 7-10 spilt.
burgertime
Sorry Wilkes when you look at the qpf map there is a minimum right over you.
beanskip
Slower, but also further south -- neutral tilt at 114 SOUTH of Columbia/Augusta.
Southern Track
The Upstate looked pretty healthy as well on that run. Hope the GFS verifies.
jacobr57
What does the triangle look like, burger?
burgertime
What is the 7-10 spilt. It was deceptive looked like a lee side trough...which was stopping the big moisture but it ended up not being a huge deal.
burgertime
SV snow map actually has SW NC getting pounded. It's only out to 114...this is the first time wide spread snow has showed up on the SV map that I can remember. It's picking up on the dynamics finally of that ULL. rduwx
If the 850's are correct and 2m temps are wrong, RDU does well.
burgertime
What does the triangle look like, burger? It looks to do good. I would think .5 as snow? Hard to tell but it appears to be in the action.
griteater
Just going by broad brush 540 thickness as rain/snow line...looks to me like a 3-7 hour period of snow as the upper low passes through for a good chunk of both NC and SC Quick, go troll DT while you can...completely misses the mid-atlantic
WilkesboroDude
Sorry Wilkes when you look at the qpf map there is a minimum right over you. A track like that will cause downsloping...will slice and dice totals across the board for some even outside of the foothills.

beanskip
Definite improvement -- 5h low considerably farther south this run -- need to keep expanding that envelope south.
