That's too high. Latest LSRs are in the 2-3" range in Polk County.

 

Yeah, too high at this time. As of about 30-40 minutes ago the metro area is anywhere from 2-3.5". Still coming down at a good rate but I see that tapering off temporarily looking at the radar.

Yeah, death band has moved off to the west. Had to be fun for a couple of hours though.

I had to watch it from work unfortunatelly :( . Upgraded to WSW now also.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER

STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT

UNTIL NOON CST WEDNESDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER

IN EFFECT.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...BANDS OF HEAVY SNOW WILL MOVE THROUGH THE

  WARNING AREA TODAY. RAPID SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF AN INCH AN HOUR

  ARE EXPECTED WITH THE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS. LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL

  CONTINUE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. GUSTY NORTH WINDS OF

  15 TO 30 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIVING SNOW.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 9 INCHES

  WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE THROUGH NOON WEDNESDAY.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH WITH

  HIGHER GUSTS ARE EXPECTED TO CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW

  AND REDUCE VISIBILITY UNDER ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.
