A-L-E-K
It appears that after all the concern about ratios, compaction and thermal profiles which all ended up working in our favor the dreaded dry slot will have the final say. Sun trying to come back out in these parts.

TimChgo9
Just went from heavy, near whiteout snow, to light, almost non-existent snow. Returns showing the main band as pushed beyond us, and we are getting dryslotted.

Baum
Agreed. Wrong terminology but my concern was we would never get this over to snow and in the end it pretty much began as snow and accumulated very quickly. If we could have got 4-5 more hours of this would have really been a nice storm. A lot of the concerns about temps. Etc. turned out not to be an issue. mimillman
Pretty solid lake enhancement on the NAM through tomorrow. Shoul be interesting to see if that actually materializes.

hawkeye_wx
It's unreal what's going on over here in Iowa. I've never seen anything like this. Been ripping snow within a stationary band all day just nw of Cedar Rapids. Meanwhile, the moderate to heavy band moving up from the southeast stalled out in the Quad Cities. There is a bone dry 30 mile wide wedge in between the two heavy snow bands where not one single flake of snow has fallen. These wet/dry bands are not moving an inch. Reports from the Waterloo are are nearing warning snow totals now.

Jonbo
Radar filled in pretty substantially over the last hour/hour and a half between from Des Moines to Ames region. Should see some nice increases in the totals.
Ottawa Blizzard
I'm out at the moment, but last I checked my thermometer it was stuck at 1.7C. I might be the chilliest of the toronto posters.

Baum
Is it me or did the dry slot just fill instantly with returns south of I-88 in northern Illinois? I don't know if I've ever seen that before.
OntarioWX
Not feeling too good about big snow prospects here. Temps around Hamilton range from 1.5°C to 4°C though they seem to be levelling off/dropping slowly. I think we're going to be dealing with rain a lot longer than anticipated. Probably 12-18cm here max unless something unexpected happens. It's still 3°C where I'm at. Also haven't seen a peep of the sun all day. Typical Hamilton weather. magoos0728
So Im seeing MKX call of rain/mixed to start went poorly. We went from mixed clouds to whiteout at 1245 and haven't let up since. That RPM Skilling showed with 9in for Kenosha doesent seem far-fetched at this rate.
