Anyone in the DTX area looking for a decent radar while ungrades are being completed click on this link:

Some nice features and will be good for some comparison when the NOAA radar comes back online. One thing I do like is the colour coding WRT precip types. If it is accurate I don't kow yet.

Snowfreak, any idea how this winter compared to snow amounts per event to other winters. With only one stronger snow early in the season the frequeny must of been higher than normal. While looking at the plow log book for this season it looks much thicker than the last few seasons.

Its crazy because clearly the 2010-11 winter was far superior to this winter, but perhaps youve had more salting days this one. I do know that February set a record for the most calendar day 2"+ snowfalls at Detroit (7, the old record was 6 set several times). The frequency of shovelable snowfalls was definitely up. As you said, just the one big 6"+ storm but many 1-4" falls.

Maybe Geos decided to vacation in Rockford instead of South Dakota so he had a good chance to see sticking snow in state.

Haha. I saw plenty of sticking a snow in the last 4 days and plenty of blowing snow on the plains. Will share the wx stories once I get back.

Looks like some blowing snow as I get towards MN. Chilly but sunny in west SD now.

APX is going to have to raise snow totals for today.  Corridor of very heavy snow has been parked here since 6 am. several inches has fallen since then.

25" and piling up fast.

Love it. Some icy patches of old snow here, and CCCCCOLD...but it downright looks like deep winter up there. First day of Spring? Not even close!

10F here...  very windy west wind... tonite should really plunge...showing 3F.  Today and tomorrow look like turds with highs in the mid 20Fs...  and wind.

It doesn't look like that cold air mass is going to make it down to southern Ontario, despite our fresh snow cover. We might get down to 20, maybe the upper teens at night...

IND is calling for a high of 27 here tomorrow. The last time we had a sub 30 degree high in the March 16-31 timeframe was March 25, 2001 when the high was only 27. #Timrejoices

Love it.

28º at noon today. 76º last year at noon.

Enjoy.

Twin Lakes should be over 250-275 Inches after tomorrow. This should be a top 10 winter there, several more threats to push them into the 300's.

If it wasn't for December, this would probably be the snowiest winter ever. I'm sure there are tons of winters where a similar thing could be said. November was snowier that December in the Keweenaw, thats RARE.

Seriously though, full mid March sunshine and my warm biased thermometer has 28.4º right now. Kinda impressive for the tropics.

With this wind it's cold as freaking balls right now. Regretting grabbing a light jacket today.
