Tropopause_Fold
Hopefully some opportunities coming for coastal dwellers in the coming weeks. Would like to see the BL tick a bit colder /faster Thu Nite so we can squeeze something out of that. Looks a bit better than it did 24 hrs ago. CoastalWx
Actually Kevin the block kind of fell apart and doesn't come in until next week really. There was some blocking, but not the kind to help us out here. It was the reason why this won't be a cutter.
Clinch Leatherwood
What a beast on the long term Euro. Verbatim too far south but very very early. By now If there's been any modem trend established its the euros tendency to be too far south. Was too far south last night with the warmth, too far south a couple of times for systems that got the cape etc. like you said it's early.
CoastalWx
Actually euro op tends to be too amped up in the long range so that argues south for now. But it's early.
yoda
Actually euro op tends to be too amped up in the long range so that argues south for now. But it's early. I read that there was no support from the ensembles and it was on its own... is that right?

It was too far south with every scraper ( we call them scrapers but in effect they hit about as many people in sne as today's "hit") so far but it's been inconsistent enough that its not worth talking about
Tropopause_Fold
I read that there was no support from the ensembles and it was on its own... is that right? ec ens have low pressure offshore - so to say there's "no support" is going a bit too far. they just don't look like the op - which isn't surprising in the least. stormtracker
They always stay south right? Never you mind. If the Euro shows us getting destroyed as it currently does, the storm is a lock for you all. Enjoy and take pics. I might even actually get to chase this time. ChrisM
Dude, I understand. Everything you guys were saying made sense. Things can break right or wrong. Think we still have time?
It's Always Sunny
Idk about epic, but favorable. Temps have to be in place for things to spark for the NE. Just take today as an example, similar pattern but yet mostly everyone is getting rained on. Winter definitely isn't over yet though.

They automatically think epic and when they don't get continuous blizzards..it's a fail. Travesty.
Clinch Leatherwood
Here's my prediction for winter 2014. The period from December 1 to March 31st will be favorable for periods of snow, cold outbreaks and perhaps a major storm or two. This is based on analogs, the predicted MJO on D 180 of the longest range JMA, sun spots on the back of my hands, three squirrels I just saw stocking up at market basket, and Al Gore. I think I can take credit now if it snows sometime next winter, but this isn't a forecast if it's warm and sunny.

CoastalWx
Did you see what I wrote next dummy? Easy chief. Yeah we still have plenty of time. It's March so obviously we need to more things to go right, but this pattern is nowhere near a Spring pattern and closer to a wintry pattern...so the choice for me is simple. This is not an epic pattern or close to perfect, but if we are going to get snow...this pattern can support it.
CoastalWx
And yes, this pattern also includes the risk of a cutter later next week.

No need to thank, but appreciate it. If there is one thing I want people to take from all those discos..it's just that we are talking long range and it doesn't always work out the way we hope. At the same time, there are reasons why analogs are spitting out some awesome years. They aren't created by Powderfreak...they are a comparison to H5 patterns in the past.
