Cold Miser
Yeah but that stuff is fairly irrelevant to the accumulation potential. We'll prob get weenie snow whether the main system hits us hard or doesn't. Its inconsequential relatively speaking. Kind of like the crap I had all day this past Saturday, prior to the 1.75" that pulled through overnight. Garbage snow FTL.
Typhoon Tip
Eyes rolling time - the 84 NAM is about to parlay into a big system for this threat. Looks like a decent compliment to the 18z war horse GFS run

Looks like a decent compliment to the 18z war horse GFS run Yeah it would probably be a big event...obvious caveats apply with the 84h NAM. The rex block over Quebec looks in good orientation too to force the max height falls to our south.
CoastalWx
I can't believe how strong VVs were modeled on the GFS. I think I saw that for one run about 48 hrs out from Jan 12 2011.

That would be a Dec '96 paste job here with like 18" in 12 hours, lol...prob more in spots. I would love to see that solution verify though I know better than to think it will. The height falls were insane. Even BOS would get blasted after like an inch of rain.

Right ... so now the NAM will lose it for the next 4 cycles while the others go bonkers (papers get thrown)

Sey-Mour Snow
I've heard way too many mets saying its going to snow this saturday and sunday since yesterday morning... we can't even forecast 24 hours out accurately what makes one think that they have a handle on this weekends event when it is 4+ days away.. For all we know Euro will totally lose it by 00z.. I think its best to say chance of snow Sunday at this point and leave it at that..

Okay... we aren't forecasting here - we're discussing what one amazing solution depicted. It's a threat, though, that's been on the table for awhile. Whether comes to fruition ... yeah, there's always hem-haw, particularly as we approach the marginal partial thickness season. But that's talking p-type; everyone knows that part of it isn't really nailed down until much nearer terms.

We are all on this board to talk about this possible storm though. and it is a threat but just for us to discuss right now.. im not sure why the public is saying already major storm this weekend.. tired of being asked this question today in the gym.. ChrisM
so far the GFS looks like it is going to try to bring another ~970-980mb low inside the BM lol
ChrisM
GFS all rain for most of us.. you must have it out further than I do? I think someone said that the GFS misdiagnoses thermal profiles a lot of the time in these kinds of setups...not sure who.
