Ian
If you need you can come to the hills to maximize the cartopper. I'm feeling good about .75"

There were 5 events really worthwhile the 2 obvious ones and then 3/8/05 - +SN squall with almost whiteout conditions...could barely see across the street 3/7/07 - snowed pretty much all day with temps in the mid 20s 4/7/07 - sick airmass....cool to get an all snow event in April...even DCA got 1/2" the others were mostly forgettable

There was a spotter in Dupont then....He got 0.5", Arboretum got 0.6" and Dalecarlia reservoir which is in a pretty good spot got 1.0"....all 3 are about 150' ASL....I could see the places above 300' doing better, but I doubt more than 2"

For the DC area, this storm was not far from 12/5/09 in terms of gradient based on elevation. But the mid-March sun angle makes the 3/14-15/99 storm more impressive than 12/09. I think you had to go up 270 and out near and past IAD to get the 4"+ totals.....I doubt any reports in DC of over 2"....
needbiggerboat
My most memorable April snowfall was in 1987. Went to RFK for an exhibition baseball game, and it was miserable and raw, with snow mixed with rain. The game was a debacle, but has stuck as a good memory over time (Phillies were my team at the time). 87 was a great winter, as I had tons of snow days from school. I'll backtrack for the past 5 or so years, I'll have to dig a bit to get to 1999 3-5&6--2012: 4.5 3-27-2011: 0.5 3-28-2011: 0.1 4-3-2011: 0.2 3-3-2010: 0.1 4-8-2009: 0.1 3-14-2009: 0.2 3-13-2009: 0.8 3-1&2-2009: 5.8 3-30-2008: 0.3 3-9-2008: 0.2 I have T's for 4-23-2012, 4-6-2011, 3-27-2010, 4-23-2009 and 4-15-2008 as last snows for those years. I remember March 1999 as a good month, I'll look at my records and get back.
