Pretty sure if March 2012 was followed by March 2008 a toaster bath would've ended it for me already. Just for some perspective I was looking at that data last night, we had 17" at the office going into the 1st that year. It's really hard to describe this March as anything other than normal.

Only 17"? I know that winter had an incredible laditudinal gradient, but I thought all of Maine had the mega snowpack. Mine was 42" going into 3/1 and 48" coming out. (Forecast of 10-14" had me dreaming of cracking the 50 mark, but only 6.1" fell that day.) Don't have all my numbers here, but I think I still had almost 30" going in to April. Depth was 30"+ on 65 days that season. Of course, the 19" that fell on 3/30-31/01 brought depth up to 48" going into April.

There is some good discussion in the Midwest/Lakes sub-forum, as well as the Central/Western when there is a severe threat. But that doesn't do much if you can really only get into severe weather when it's in your backyard. And of course that doesn't really help the quality of threads over here in the spring.

I actually go over to those forums when a good outbreak is occurring.

The big one was obviously Mar 6-8. You guys mostly missed that one. 23" of fairly high water content...it wasn't complete paste, but it had a lot of water in there. The Blizzard in February probably had more water down here too even though it was cold...we had compacted wind shredded powder so the ratios really werent that good. Up there it was fluffier...esp the first half of that storm when that inverted trough was just dumping dendrites.

Being north of that was why I got 11" rather than 25.  And I might've challenged Jeff for grump except for the at-bats thing.  (And being only 2" above avg rather than 20.)

Another winner of a spring day...beautiful outside for skiing and biking in the same day.

40s and sun after an inch of snow overnight.

Snow depth heading down as I can now see the gate for the state campground.

Only 26" on the ground at 1400-1500ft down from Saturday's 33". Deep winter doesn't involve thigh deep mushy snow, birds chirping, and a hot sun.

People laying out on Boston Common tanning and throwing the frisbee....I'm so pissed to be stuck at work today with this gorgeous 43F and overcast outside.

I could be doing something rewarding like mowing the lawn or planting the flowerbed out in this stuff. It really kills me that so many others in here are out taking it all in today. I may have to skip out early today and do a swan boat tour.

Lol what? Lay the bong down.. We probably have 15-20 days where dews reach or exceed 70 each summer. At least

why do you like hot and humid wx so much?

you live in SNE, and its not know for "days and days of high dews and temps" in the summer.

No one like 95/74, it is nasty swamp azz wx

Man, that is disappointing to hear. Why am I at work when I could be walking around with a winter coat enjoying these shwrs moving through.

You should, it's been really nice out. Just took the dog for a ski tour in the Notch...sunny and low 40s had me in a t-shirt and sun glasses. Already have a decent raccoon giggle tan going from long sunny days on the snow. I think this time of year when nice weather coincides with snowpack is really special.

Skiers and snowboarders drinking beers on the deck, and grilling in the parking lot.

But I do understand that these temps may not be that nice in SNE. But folks in NNE seem to be loving it. Just like dendrite said, the shorts come out at 50F this time of year haha.

I'm sure this weather in a city setting may not be that great...but it's what you make of it. Stay inside and mourn the death of winter or head outside and embrace the snow and sun before its gone.

Well, You can see some folks points that are near the coast that get locked in with sheet drizzle on NE winds and temps in to 40's, That really sucks for extended periods of time................. :)

I've embraced my snow pack...very well documented that I take walks and snap pics of my snow. I like it.

But I certainly won't be convinced this is nice weather by the 43F and overcast fetish crowd. I'll take 33F and overcast over this garbage anyday to keep the snow pack looking fresher and landscape devoid of melting and mud.
