Since there's not much to talk about, figured I'd start a thread about tonights cold temps. Its brutally cold here with the nonstop gusty wind. Dont have an anemometer, but that wind chill is way down there. Currently: 13.9

Since 2000, there have been 29 days on which the temperature fell below 20° in New York City after 2/17:

2000: None

2001: 2: 2/18 18°; 2/19: 17°

2002: 1: 3/5 19°

The last time that NYC had a record low temperature from late February into early March

was back in 2003 with a record low tie. I can still remember the 0 degree reading right

before the original President's Day storm back in 1979. Tomorrow morning looks like

a low of 16-17 in NYC.

The GFS MOS low temperatures have been doing better recently than the NAM 4km. Ever since we

picked up some snow cover, the 4km has been running at least two degrees too cold. I also noticed

that the Op Euro had the temperatures too cold with the snowcover post blizzard before backing

off a bit.
