Chinook
I have created a better radar animation for the Midwest blizzard of 1999. Hopefully you find this very useable. I couldn't get rid of the red squares on the images. http://www.greatlakes.salsite.com/Blizzard_of_99_radar.html
snowstormcanuck
Still sends shivers down my spine. Widespread 30-35dbz, virtually all snow. What a freak of a storm.

radionicist
That storm sticks in my memory - it hit the day my kids were supposed to go back to school from Christmas Break, and they didn't - for several days. Also, here the snow fell over ice, and I slipped and landed on my posterior while shoveling out the driveway. Funny how you can remember those things. Chinook
Thanks for commenting on this. In Toledo, we had snow, sleet, freezing rain, maybe rain, and then snow. I think the north side of Toledo had 12" and less sleet than I did. There was a lot of plinking of sleet. I have a few problems with getting my images to be just the right size. That's why some images are fuzzy, some aren't. Anybody know how to save the images straight from this web site? Anybody know how to get rid of the red squares? Here is the web site I am talking about http://gis.ncdc.noaa.gov/map/viewer/#app=cdo&cfg=cdo&theme=hourly&layers=0001&extent=-139.2:12.7:-50.4:57.8&srid=4326&node=gis&display=nexrad
