nycsnow
BTW the radar looks EXACTLY as it did on 2/24/89, we were discussing how close of an analog storm this is, basically shift that band in SE NJ 50 miles west or so and its a match, also had that NNW movement which made you think we were gonna get crushed up here. I was just about to ask, that band looks to be coming west a tiny bit
TWCCraig
Those bands south of LI do look like they are moving north. They are also intensifying and growing in size slightly. It's part of a larger band that extends down all the way to NC.
jm1220
Snow coming into Long Island now, longer lived the further east you go. Unfortunately soon it will likely start to pivot away as the low pulls away. Late-bloomers are by far my least favorite kind of winter storm. SnowGoose69
I was just about to ask, that band looks to be coming west a tiny bit Mt. Holly is gonna probably have some advisory amounts there if that band slides onshore, the 2/2004 storm that narrowly missed us up here a mega band got onshore briefly in Ocean County and someone picked up 3 inches in one hour. jm1220
That band looks like a real kahuna though, hopefully we get some of it.

The snowband is so close that you can see the wall of reduced visibilities offshore....only in winter 2012-2013. See you next year.

mranger48
NNow we know how Eastern PA felt during many a storm over the last couple of years when NJ is getting blitzed just to their East..a la boxing day blizzard. By the way....what would cause those moving streak like objects going from Northeast to Southwest on the radar that SACRUS posted??? 96blizz
That band is the biggest kick in the nads ever! I think I could get 7 iron to the heaviest snows off shore! Happy to be far inland on this one. Stings less!
NorthShoreWx
I can't be here all day, every day. It's extremely disappointing that so many people don't think before they post. There are so many posts here that add nothing to the discussion. It's even more disappointing because myself and the other mods in here work very hard to keep things organized. Unfortunately it looks like we're going to be forced to start handing out 5 post per day restrictions. John, FWIW, I do appreciate what you do. This forum is tough. AvantHiatus
It's actually accumulating okay down here, might get 1" out of this. Bodes well for Long Island and New England.

Mr Torchey
Anyone talking about posting images from the GFS should be banned instantly. The american guidance is useless, absolutely useless and the wishcasting that went on was some of the best I have ever seen in my entire life. bluewave
It looks like despite the GGEM update on the 13th, it still finished last among the majors with this storm. The other thing to take note of is how a very small tweek to the 500 mb pattern can yield an important difference at the surface. http://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/gmb/STATS/html/hpcvern72.html
