Warm layer is shallow. They scour easier than cold layers because they can lift themselves. Kinda like a hot air balloon.

 

Went from 54 to 45 here in Timonium in the last hour. Maybe I'll get glopped to death when drive to rockville later tonight.

I landed at BWI on Wednesday at 6pm...took 695 to 70 to 15 coming home..driving heavy snow the whole way...'twas fun...maybe again tonight

There's a Wardensville in WV, is that the road that goes to it? If so, how much elevation as I remember at pretty big grade you had to go over.

Yes, thats the road. I google earthed that cam and I'm pretty sure it's at about 1800 or so feet. I have no snow at 900 feet, so it's up there pretty good. It often shows good snow long before I get it.
