powderfreak
There really is only one standout, as usual, Jay. Bravo to them. quite unbelievable. Every mountain in the state between that like 14-18 inch range and somehow Jay always gets 10" more It really must be a special place up there. Anyway, what an awesome day... I wasn't working and my co-worker went with 12-14" which I liked. Its a good conservative number (under-reported by most people's standards and comments today), as the Barnes Camp base snow plot picked up 13.5". Even the Stowe CoCoRAHS guy had 13.2" and he's usually conservative. I wasn't working and was too busy skiing powder to check the summit stake, but even just adding 1-2" to the base snowfall would've given a like 15-16" total, like Smuggs and Bolton. But we're really splitting hairs over 1-2 inches in this type of storm with some wind. In general, a very solid 12< snowfall across the board. Jay Peak area stands out. CoolMike
How accurate is the Jay Peak snow reporting? As accurate as PF's reporting for Stowe? They seem to Jackpot more than their fair share (even when you consider their climo is something like 40" more per year than surrounding peaks). I'll be making my first trip to Jay Peak next year around late January to check it out myself, but I'm curious what their snow reporting reputation is like. J.Spin
on and off strong snow showers in BTV. Big wet flakes. Stunningly pretty snow. Boy, it’s really come on in the past few minutes here at UVM with visibilities dropping down around 1/3 of a mile – looks like a few 35 db echoes popping up: I’ve got the web cam running at the house, and I’ve been occasionally checking on snowfall there, but it’s been just flurries with no accumulation so it almost felt like this snow was hitting a wall at the Greens. It seems like the greater intensity of the snowfall has finally started to push eastward a bit though because I’m starting to see the first signs of accumulation on the deck. It’s definitely snowing on the Bolton Valley Live Web Cam – looks pretty vigorous up there.

powderfreak
2-3 new inches up at the ski resort since 2pm today. Heavy snow squalls. Down in town I've had at least an additional inch on the snow surfaces...but only a coating on dark surfaces. Very fluffy flakes that have no problem accumulating on other snow, but doesn't want to on anything that could absorb solar.

J.Spin
Event totals: 14.8” Snow/1.01” L.E. There was 0.9” of additional snow on the snowboard when I got home today, and the 0.03” of liquid in the core brings that parameter past the one inch mark. There are another couple tenths of an inch of snow on the board as of the 6:00 P.M. clearing, and with the dearth of larger storms this season, this one is actually within a half inch of topping the storm list. Details from the 6:00 P.M. Waterbury observations are below: New Snow: 0.9 inches New Liquid: 0.03 inches Snow/Water Ratio: 30.0 Snow Density: 3.3% H2O Temperature: 31.3 F Sky: Light Snow (1-8 mm flakes) Snow at the stake: 11.5 inches

powderfreak
Surprisingly decent snow showers still rolling through at the ski area... this is high ratio stuff so these weak echos are definitely producing. J.Spin
Event totals: 15.0” Snow/1.01” L.E. Yesterday evening’s additional 0.2” is all to report for the overnight accumulation. It was interesting to hear Roger Hill talk about the snow showers persisting through the weekend in his early broadcast – he didn’t seems as heartened by that thought, but from a snow perspective, more clouds are generally helpful in preserving the powder. Apparently there is a convective aspect to the snowfall we’re getting so afternoons can snow an uptick in precipitation. Details from the 6:00 A.M. Waterbury observations are below: New Snow: 0.2 inches New Liquid: Trace Temperature: 18.3 F Sky: Partly Cloudy Snow at the stake: 10.5 inches In general, a very solid 12< snowfall across the board. Thanks for alerting me to the map – indeed I noticed a very tight clustering of snow totals for the northwest section of Washington County near me. There are a couple of reports visible on the map off to the east of my 13.9” on the county line, and in the text listing below, the four highest Washington County reports are all from Waterbury and right in the at 13-14” range. Allenson
Pretty map but some of the #'s on there are not for the whole storm. Ex the St. J figure did not include the overnight snow. The 7 inch total was as of 4pm. That 10-14 inch band for N Caledonia and Lamoille should connect down to the band in Orange in my opinion. I think it's because for some reason, the St. J (as well as Mt. Mansfield and Salisbury) coop observation period is from 4pm-4pm as opposed to the normal 7am-7am. Cold one this morning--down to 5F under clear skies. Had another inch yesterday in those snowglobe squalls.... Yeah, might be time for a spring thread!
