FWIR, the yellows and oranges are non-homogenous hydrometeors... in other words, mixed precip. Snow melting into rain, usually. In this case the solid purple is snow. I was at Richland's firehouse doing an ice rescue class, one minute there was nothing, next minute everything was covered, crazy. 54 is completely covered just about. I haven't measured but it looks like a solid 1"+ on the grass. EDIT: Is this just wishful thinking or does that heavier stuff toward the Jersey Shore look like it is fixing to start rotating back our way?
