Thunder Road
The Northwest Indiana chapter of the AMS/NWA is announcing that registration is now open for the 11th annual GLMC at the link below: http://www.valpo.edu/student/nwa/2013_Conf/index.php The GLMC is something that Valpo has run in-house for 11 years now. It is more student-oriented than most conferences, and has generally been attended by VU students, alumni, and Central Michigan students in the past. However, it is an interesting day of research and experience that is local, so we'd like to open it up to the rest of the region as well this year. It is also being hosted on campus for the first time this year. The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Lance Bosart of SUNY-Albany, who will be giving a presentation on the link between derechos and heat waves. Last year's conference also contained several hands-on forecasting exercises as well, along with numerous other speakers, including a meteorologist from the Hunstville WFO explaining in emotional detail what the days following the 4/27/11 outbreak were like. Additional topics this year will include: o Snowfall research o Hurricane hunting o Energy forecasting o 2012 Henryville, IN Tornado o Student Research o And much more! If you're interested, this could also serve as a get together for some of the GLOV. Feel free to post or PM me with any questions.
