WidreMann told us it was gonna snow thread

At least we saw flakes, otherwise this was a total weak sauce event for Wilson. No snow to speak of on the ground at the moment, even after hours of it falling (what little did accumulate was gone in about an hour). Glad to see some folks did get some accumulations...enjoy! Think I'll have to plan a ski trip before the seaon's over to get my snow fix for the year, and give the baby her first opportunity to play in the snow.

Measured an inch here during the heaviest snow. Definitely started melting once the rates went down. Good dusting still on the ground this morning. Very interesting to see the latent heat effects from the house and some larger tress. Completely bare in those areas. While I wanted to see more, this was still fun and a pleasure to watch.

Congrats Charlotte, Florence and Myrtle Beach.

0.7" seems high for RDU, I am 10 miles west and I never had anything to measure.

Map looks pretty accurate! Though I'm pretty sure we were closer to 2" in Southern Pines rather than 1 or 1.5".  Wasnt much but it sure was better than nothing and I enjoyed the hell out of it while it lasted!  Hopefully another one of these Feb storms in the disco thread can pan out now and give us much more :)

On another note, cold cold cold out there.  11AM and the temp is 29, windchill is 20!

That map is very deceiving for the mtns, especially watauga county, probably ended up around 2-4 (but was NW flow snow after the main system passed). Impossible to measure due to the extreme winds last night, side roads are still solid white.

those maps are always off for the mtns. Its really just broad brushed.

Ha!  Figures, doesn't it?  As soon as you leave the place...same thing happened to me, though.  I moved from LIT to SOP a few months ago...as we all know...LIT got 9.5" of snow on Christmas day 2012....just 9 months after I left

I did see the pic of Midland Road you posted from a storm in the early 2000s though...crazy.  Didn't recognize it one bit.

Yeah I am kidding though as I did see a number of amazing snow events there believe it or not, including the epic Jan 2000 as shown in my Midland Road photo.

Accumulations for southern Cleveland County seem too high based on my observations. I received just a little more than 1/2". I think the southern part of the county did receive more than the northern part but not that much. I think Robert said he got around an inch and I think he lives just a mile or so to my SW and it has us both in the "2-4" range. Just a mile or two to my N received less than a couple tenths and that area is also in the "2-4" range.

Not sure if this should go here, or in the Banter thread...

I am going to be leaving Holly Springs, GA and driving up to Beech Mountain on Tuesday... how slippery of a drive is that going to be?  Just trying to plan - not really used to driving in snow (but will be in 4x4)...

Thanks in advance.

This clearly isn't the right thread. Please don't cross-post. Please don't put an additional signature in your main post as it is already to the left of the post. And finally, we don't do personalized forecasts for people's trips. We are hobbyists. Read what we say about weather activity in different areas and extrapolate temporally and spatially to where you are. If that's not enough, then just look at the forecast from a regular outlet like the NWS, AccuWeather or the Weather Channel.

Tried to delete after realizing my mistake - I am sorry.
