beanskip
It's coming -- don't worry about temps. Once the snow starts, they absolutely crash. The cool thing about the approach is if you go outside with a good westward vantage point, you can actually see the big snow cloud approaching. This is by far the coolest less-than-one-inch snowstorm I've experienced. Good luck! Sun is shining in CLT...can't wait for these bands to make it here...what a switch over it will be. MotoWeatherman
This is my weenie question of the day. Since the sun is out could that enhance instability when these heavy convective snow showers come over head? Could this lead to some thunder snow? Absolutely it could. Will it? Who knows? CAD_Wedge_NC
Wow crazy blowing snow here with big flakes. Probably snowing at a clip of 1-2 in per hour That band just came through here and we picked up an inch and a half in 35 minutes along with thunder. That band means business. Temps down to 32 degrees.
MillerA
The band has moved through western lincoln county now. It snowed for about 45 min, and we got about an inch. My 5 yeard old loved. Took a pic when it was first starting. https://twitter.com/toddsprinkle/status/302863055505723392/photo/
downeastnc
If we get bigger flakes with the rates I have right now I am gonna die....temp down to 34 quickly, sun getting low snow just starting, I am feeling good about getting my 2-4" at least. kanc2001
when I was in college @ SC in columbia in 96 or 97ish we actually had a lake enhanced snow shower in downtown columbia in early april. It can happen with the right wind tragectory Ceiling has risen and sky has brightened ahead of this band that's incoming. Almost like a lake effect or upslope band. Freeze
Snow just arrived. Nothing gradual about it. One second dry next second close to whiteout conditions with wind. Temp dropped two degrees within a three minutes upon arrival of the snow band. Ground turning white fast. None of the big flakes that were reported earlier by others. These are fine flakes due to the cold air above. Deck now covered in 5 minutes. Temp just dropped another degree since I started typing. Now 35. kvegas-wx
Looks like we are about done in the triad. Heavier precip looks to be pulling out south and east. Snowed since predawn with nothing ever accumulating but i'm totally cool with that. Sun starting to peek out now. Enjoy the heavier bands eastern NC!
