HKY_WX
This might be a stupid question but are you in Hickory or somewhere else? What band are you talking about? Yep hickory. The band that extends from taylorsville southwest to GSP. These are insane rates.
superjames1992
Mark it, 1 inch of snow in 30 mins lol Still hammering. I think the RAP had that band moving E/NE across the rest of the foothills/Piedmont, yes? The radar looks like it's starting to come together further north up towards Wilkesboro and beyond, too. Watching these flurries fall is starting to get old, haha.
Cold Rain
Still snowing lightly now. Looks like some heavier returns off to the sw working in.
WeatherNC
There is even an isolated pocket of 850 frontogenesis associated with it...it might form an actual consolidated band here shortly...interesting... http://www.spc.ncep.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/new/viewsector.php?sector=17# Watching the MHX site and convection offshore, not too bad atm, line starting to fire, sometimes that can screw our moisture return off the ATL. chapelhillwx
And just like that, it's over. Blue sky peeking through. There's another band behind it. It just hit me.
phil882
Very impressive meso-low currently moving slowly east of the Apps in SC. This is a very similar situations to what happened in the Jan2003 snowstorm across the foothills of NC. WFO Raleigh has a nice detailed case study of that event. Some areas picked up over a foot near HKY.
beanskip
And after 25 months, it snowed in Shelby. Sticking on deck and grass -- coming down hard.
VeronicaCorningstone
Light to moderate snow in Wilson for the past hour, but no accumulation as of yet. Under better circumstances, we'd have at least a half inch by now.
Jet Stream Rider
A weak low pressure is starting to form near CAE as we speak according to surface observations from around the SE Noted that as well. Hope it deepens quickly. Spinning in place would be nice too.
QC_Halo
Wow I'm hoping we can get under that band here in CLT...this is like watching paint dry.Fairly decent graupel on this side of town. But yes, it's pretty boring...lol

HKY_WX
Down to flurries now, but a little over an inch in 30 mins is impressive. Everything is white. Nice surprise! Expected this band to setup further southeast of me.

eyewall
Been snowing steadily here for 5 hours or so with nothing on the ground to show for it (except briefly). This is definitely a case of being defeated by sun angle and soil.
FLO
I think the temp has risen in CAE. Def fail zone.

strongwxnc
Some of the heaviest rates I have seen since 2010, but not really sticking at all. Which is cool! Great show outside!

DeepSouthSC
I think the temp has risen in CAE. Def fail zone. It's risen 1 degree. There was a reason I wasn't quite getting my hopes up for this storm.
WidreMann
I drove over to N Raleigh just to see how things were there. Starting around I-540 and US 70 there were white patches on the ground and by Leesville Rd, it was consistently white. Clearly 1/2 to 1" over in N Raleigh. Meanwhile, back in Durham, it might as well be raining. Very light small flakes coming down. Absolutely no accumulation. Just a cold, miserably day. eyewall
What's your total liquid in those 5 hours? I don't have a gauge but as of an hour ago or so 0.27 at Chapel Hill's airport.
TheVille
Wow crazy blowing snow here with big flakes. Probably snowing at a clip of 1-2 in per hour
VeronicaCorningstone
And just after I typed that last update, it went crazy. Big flakes, accumulating everywhere now.

weatherheels
Just started flurrying again after about an hour of nada. Not sure if any of the bands to the west will have any impact on Forsyth county. Ground had a dusting for about 20 minutes around 1 but gone quickly.
