Lol! I usually am in the screw zone too. Funny thing is, Fishel was all depressed about the boundary layer thing yesterday, but it seems to be overperforming. Looks to redevelop for you too. :)

Not really. It's redeveloping over me and moving east to where the rich are getting richer. Another precip hole is headed this way, and the back edge is weakening, not redeveloping.

1151 AM EST SAT FEB 16 2013

...SNOW SHOWERS INCREASING IN THE MOUNTAINS ALONG THE NORTH

CAROLINA AND SOUTH CAROLINA BORDER...

AT 1150 AM EST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED

A BAND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW SHOWERS DEVELOPING OVER THE

DEVELOPING FROM ROSMAN TO CAESARS HEAD. THESE SNOW SHOWERS WILL

EXPAND IN COVERAGE AND POSSIBLY INCREASE IN INTENSITY OVER THE

Tell tail sign something is afoot...  Turkey buzzards are starting to roost in the big trees out back, maybe a dozen so far, but more are flying in.  Precip may be delayed, though we would be in the rn/sn by 1pm, banding over the triangle having a hard time moving east.  Could be good new though, thickness after 18z would support sn as the dominant type, I was kind of worried some moisture would be rn, not as worried now since it should start later this afternoon.  Heading to Wilson for a couple hours, y'all play nice.

RAH update:

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

AS OF 1145 AM SATURDAY...

A CHALLENGING AND COMPLEX FCST... AS AN ANOMALOUS AMPLIFIED UPPER

TROUGH LIFTS NORTH AND EAST OVER THE AREA...TAKING ON A NEG TILT

WITH CYCLOGENESIS OFF THE CAROLINA COAST THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING

INTENSIFYING RAPIDLY AS IT MOVES UP THE MID-ATLANTIC AND NORTHEAST

COAST. WATER VAPOR IMAGERY AND UPSTREAM RADAR TRENDS ARE IMPRESSIVE

WITH A VERY STRONG VORTMAX PROGRESSING INTO THE SOUTHERN

APPALACHIANS. QPF AMOUNTS HAVE DEFINITELY INCREASED OVER THE AREA

BUT THE KEEP WILL BE HOW MUCH OF THAT PRECIP WILL FALL THIS

EVENING...BETWEEN 00 TO 06Z.

STRONG LOW-LEVEL FRONTOGENESIS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT BAND

MOVING EAST ACROSS CENTRAL NC HAS PRODUCED A QUICK AND EARLY BURST

OF SNOW THIS MORNING...WITH A FEW LOCATIONS SUCH AS MOORE...ALAMANCE

AND PERSON COUNTIES HAVING REPORT SOME SPOTTY 1 TO POSSIBLY

2 INCH ACCUMULATIONS...CONFINED MOSTLY TO GRASSY AREAS...WITH SLUSHY

ROADS CONDITIONS. MELTING OCCURRING WITHIN THE HEAVIER BANDS HAS

EFFECTIVELY COOLED THE LOWER TROPOSPHERE...EVIDENT IN WATCHING THE

LOW CC(CORRELATION COEFFICIENT; NEW DUAL-POL PRODUCT)PUSH EASTWARD

THROUGH THE TRIANGLE.

AS ALLUDED IN PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS...THE FACT THAT THIS SNOW BAND IS

OCCURRING DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS...WITHOUT INCREDIBLY HIGH PRECIP

RATES(AS WE HAVE HAD IN A FEW SPOTS)...IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT

TO GET WIDESPREAD SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF MORE THAN 1-2 INCHES.

WHICH LEAVES US TO LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING...

WHEN ALL THE VARIABLES COULD PERFECTLY COME TOGETHER TO PRODUCE RARE

WARNING SNOW AMOUNTS(>3" IN 12 HOURS)WITH SUNSET PROVIDING MORE

FAVORABLE/IDEAL NOCTURNAL TIMING AS THE VIGOROUS VORT MAX

SWINGS ACROSS THE AREA WITH THE COASTAL LOW REALLY BEGINNING TO

RAPIDLY INTENSIFY.

THE ARRIVAL OF THE STRONG TROUGH DYNAMICS AND RESULTANT COOLING

ALOFT/STEEP LAPSE RATES TO GO ALONG WITH THE CONTINUED DEEP LAYER

FGEN...COULD SUPPORT A BAND OR MULTIPLE BANDS OF HEAVY SNOWFALL

PIVOTING SLOWLY EASTWARD ACROSS CENTRAL AND EASTERN NC. AS MUCH 3 TO

6 INCHES WOULD BE POSSIBLE UNDERNEATH THESE BANDS...WITH THE HIGHEST

ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED ALONG AND EAST OF US 1 AND NORTH OF THE

HIGHWAY 64 AND INTERSTATE 85. TRENDS WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED

AND THESE AREAS COULD BE UPGRADED TO A WARNING LATER THIS AFTERNOON.

PRECIP IS EXPECTED TO SHIFT EAST-NORTHEASTWARD OUT OF THE AREA

BETWEEN 06 TO 12Z...WITH CLEARING SKIES ALLOWING TEMPERATURES TO

FALL INTO THE LOWER TO MID 20S...WHICH WILL ALLOW ANY MOISTURE ON

ROADS TO BECOME SLICK...MAKING TRAVELING DIFFICULT EARLY SUNDAY

MORNING.

Wow, yeah in Moore County we've easily got an inch right now, and this is saying it's going to get heavier tonight?  It's supposed to snow continuously until the evening?  Hell yeah.  It's only noon.  It wasnt forecast to start here until 1PM, and that was a 40% chance of rain/snow.  This is great!  Taking the kids out to play :D

CR, you got some good stuff coming and over you now.

Yeah, this is just beautiful. Snowing hard and a solid dusting. Radar looks good for a while. Just read the RAH disco and looks like some areas could get upgraded to a warning. Technically, a perfect prog would be just north of me, but it's fun to be in the game for once. :)
