Feb 13: The little storm that could (for some)

Thanks.  That makes sense.

Personally, I had pretty much given up on the best rates so I thought the all-change to snow would happen in the northern tier counties.

the banding was fairly good west and nw of the city for a while. hard to say if/where that's going to happen beforehand. any accum locally should be somewhat spotty.

4:15pm: 42 after a high of 46
5:45pm: 36.9  w/ white globules trying to mix in
6:00pm  36.2 becoming more snow than rain
7:15pm: 34.4 all snow with silver dollar-sized flakes
8:00pm  33.5 steady snow; round of mod-hvy snow in last 30 mins, cars/grass white
8:45pm  32.9 best rates of winter 8:00-8:30, eyeballing while outside it looks like approx 1/2" - 1" OTG hopefully

isn't too outrageous a statement.  Some whitening of sidewalks and side streets for past 30 mins. Still

mod-hvy snow but flakes much smaller

At 5:00 pm we had a mix of rain and snow pellets in Westminster.  By 6:00 pm it was all wet snow, and now has transitioned to a dry, but fluffy snow.  There was a brief period of time where snow was accumulating on the paved surfaces but any accumulations are melting now that precipitation rates are lightening up.

Snow over BWI city is regenerating in the most weenie like fashion, and what beautiful snow growth. I mean hell its bigger than the flakes I saw at home in the blizzard

new SREFs had it (they better have  lol)

this is total qpf for the 12 hours starting 7PM

Of course, accumulations here are mostly confined to grass, but I'm a little surprised to see that the coastal is already causing a slight pivot in the precip shield.  We might get a bit on the roads if it can last a couple more hours.
