CoastalWx
I didn't hear thunder but my neighbor said he was out doing his driveway in the death band and distinctly heard thunder Had two audible here. One sounded like a CG. Bright flash too. That was outstanding. I'm a d-bag for taking video during that. True whiteout conditions, not 1/4sm stuff. HoarfrostHubb
Well, I think I won a snow challenge with some of my students we put together on Thursday. I guessed 29" for KFIT for the storm. Did not find their total, but a trained spotter in Fitchburg had them at 30.2" Me ftw... but I need to check with the airport. I think I had the lowest in the N ORH area...lol

ice1972
Wife works at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and got a robocall from work that the side streets in and around thd hospital are unplowed.....and that surface parking at the Mt. Sinai campus for employees is unavailable due to slow snow removal.... I remember back in Jan 2011 when our pack was so deep how the City of Hartford was just horrible at snow removal......the whole Farmington Ave, Woodland Street, Sisson Ave area was a mess.... grinch1989
Hamden pounded pellets too. There was mixing as far northwest as towns like Seymour and north toward Wallingford. It wasn't your typical sleet though. It was a lot of big graupel mixed with monster parachutes that still piled up fast. That, coupled with the snow before it being relatively wet and heavy, meant there wasn't a ton of compaction. The only reason I'm doubting the 40" is that the only other measurements that high 38" in No Haven came from the person known for slantsticking and the 38" in Milford that Gibbs called BS on. The rest of the numbers are basically 3ft or less. I mixed too, exactly as you described. It was only for an hour or so and visibilities were hardly affected like your typical mix does. Crazy to think there is 4" of liquid out there with a little rain on the way too. I talked to the town plow guy they are dispatching with every 911 call. He's running a massive V plow cutting down the middle of the road getting to these house...just unreal Also, did you get my PM? Probably doesnt matter much now... And yeah have heard that about other towns with 911 cals etc. The amount of time it's going to take HVN/BDR/MMK to get back up and running is going to be astonishing. April 97 in Boston style.
