Mr. Windcredible!
We had that nice layer of sleet to protect snow down here...snow cover holding strong. Shame we won't get much of a refresher. Back to school for the kiddos tomorrow I hope!
S&P
I lost a good 8-10". Areas where there was little accum are bare now. yeah i easily lost that much and started out at 15", lots of bare spots, piles are still huge though
tamarack
Amazing how fast the snow has settled in some places, and how little in others. Looking at three NNE locations, each of which had no snowcover prior to the blizzard: ..Feb snow...OG this morning CON 25.4" 17" PWM 33.9" 14" BGR 22.7" 21" MBY has had 14.3" this month, atop 6" of glacial leftovers, with current depth 14". Clinch Leatherwood
Where I measured is bare. Still snow everywhere else. I tried to pick the spot I felt was least influenced by the wind.
Clinch Leatherwood
Editing the earlier post. Where we had 20-21" later Saturday is now bare. Areas that measured 22-25" have a thin coating. Drifts are still around as are the banks, everything else is gone. A couple of days of 40+, rain and now today sunshine have done the deed. Amazing actually. snowman21
Editing the earlier post. Where we had 20-21" later Saturday is now bare. Areas that measured 22-25" have a thin coating. Drifts are still around as are the banks, everything else is gone. A couple of days of 40+, rain and now today sunshine have done the deed. Amazing actually. We didn't get the kind of snow most other places got, but today the grass has definitely started to re-emerge even where it wasn't blown thin. This is late October sun we're dealing with now, so once you get even a little grass or paved surface exposed it goes to town on whatever 'pack is left. The town removed all the big piles in parking lots and on street corners along with snow blocking parking spots on the sides of streets overnight which adds to the snow barren look. CoastalWx
I must say, Boston's operation snow pile reduction or whatever it was....worked out. There were crews everywhere last night taking piles away. I mean hundreds. I was impressed.

nzucker
Shelton schools closed tomorrow... Closing schools for multiple days due to a weekend snowstorm seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Even having Monday off was pushing it, but 3 days for a storm that hit Friday night? What wusses we've become... School doesn't need to be closed unless there's actually snow-covered roads or widespread power outages. Neither of those is the case anymore. This is silly.
