BlueSkiesFading
Man that band was incredible! I'm pretty sure it beat out the Feb 2006 mega-thundersnow band as far as intensity. I just wish it lasted more than 15 minutes. Oh well. Awesome finish to an interesting storm. Can't wait to hear the final totals out of Long Island and SNE. Insane! Kaner587
After this burst the park should be close to a foot. Gonna fall slightly short I think though
andyhb
It's a wild pattern we are in. MJO induced Yeah, plus both the ST and Polar Jets (especially the latter, which was not happening last year at this time) are cranking. That incredibly dynamic system that led to the severe outbreak on the 29th/30th was a good example.

Gonna fall slightly short I think though Not sure it's over immediately after that band. Maybe another 1-2" depending on what swings through. Nikolai
I measured 9" in three locations in Harlem prior to the megaband's arrival, so I'm guessing we will end up with about 11" total. Those rates were insane, and I couldn't see two blocks down.

weatherpruf
What exactly do u do when you have over 30" of snow, what's the recovery period. well, in NJ, you usually wait a day or two till it melts:) i remember the 94 storm was followed by 50% temps and torrential rain...and it rained a couple days after 96. 2011 tho the snow stayed all winter... nzucker
What exactly do u do when you have over 30" of snow, what's the recovery period. Not much recovery period if we get hit Valentine's Day or President's Day with those systems...We have a good shot at another MECS/HECS. Anyway, still crushing snowfall rates here in Southern Westchester: +SN 24.7/24 Total Snowfall: 15.25" I think we're good for at least another inch here in Dobbs Ferry as another moderate band has formed on top of me, and there's some lighter stuff heading SSE from just west of Poughkeepsie with 15-20dbz echoes, so still steady accumulating snow. Ratios are very high this late in the storm. That's why there's no reason to panic when you don't jackpot early: it's the high-ratio part of the CCB that boosts totals rapidly, especially late at night with dropping temperatures.
