Great pbp guys. As a displanted east islipander living in DC, I am in envy. Parents in East Moriches. I was worried about to mix earlier but now everything seems fine, traditional and awesome. panic always sets in when everyone else is getting snow except for the south shore of central and eastern Long Island. reminds me a lot of these 1978 storm. good luck to all

yes it was really peaceful chasing my little girl's escaped poodle down rte 35 in my slippers and pajamas with no coat on :) what do you think for our area/ In Feb 10 i think Metuchen eked out 6 while i had 3 over here. it just isn't piling up over here. it is snowing tho.

lol, good visual - where on 35?  If you only got 3" in Feb-10, I'm guessing you're up near Rahway, since the gradient was so sharp from N to S and yes, we did get 6" in Metuchen for that storm, which was better than the 0" they got in Manhattan - most amazing gradient I've ever seen - from 0" in NYC to 28" in Philly, over just about 90 miles.

It's been ripping snow for the past 3 hours and we're up to about 6" total for the storm and looking at the solid radar, I think we'll get another 2-4", which would bring us into the 8-12" range I was calling for. My wife and I also made it out to Hailey's Pub in Metuchen for a couple of drinks - nice time out, especially since I love going out when it's snowing, especially if I can see the snow falling from where I'm sitting and we could from the bar.  We also walked around a bit after getting home, as it was just so damn beautiful outside.

Marginal airmass, but even 10m temps are below 0 for the event for PHL to NYC. The fact that a lot of C NJ pulled through with some SN and PL while there was a 850 mb low to our west this afternoon says a lot. The 120 hr storm should be more "cut and dry." It's just not as convoluted. I agree with the 180 hr storm...it's a full latitude trough with big potential.

I think the first event will be a rainer and hug the coast because of the lousy air mass and no high, that 2nd one after is gonna be a monster, its got triple phaser potential on it.
