Isotherm
It's 8pm. Some of you need to calm down. This is some of the worst I've seen in the years I've been on these boards. Agreed. I'm snowing steadily in PA with many folks around here closing in on 1" from this new band already. Given we'll be on the edge, NYC is looking at 6-8 hours of snow tonight. SR Airglow
ABC just cut NYC down to 6-12" They still say 18" plus for here though. -skisheep
Breene
It's 8pm. Some of you need to calm down. This is some of the worst I've seen in the years I've been on these boards. this post would make sense at noon. not 8pm. for what most were predicting this is shaping up for a huge bust in nassau county. 31* and sleet
weatherweather
there is still a chance that band could fill in and pivot nicely for a foot of snow over nyc
IntenseBlizzard2014
Agreed. I'm snowing steadily in PA with many folks around here closing in on 1" from this new band already. Given we'll be on the edge, NYC is looking at 6-8 hours of heavy snow tonight. Fixed.

Brian5671
Looks like the nice band is working it's way west a bit into SW CT, should pick up in the next few minutes. Thanks for posting the radar! Will measure again at 8:30 -skisheep coming down here, but some sleet mixed in...27 degrees...
viking70
How much do you think Westchester ends up with? 15-18"? If I end up with that much I would be very surprised. Only 4.25 here so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.
EasternLI
Rain and some sleet. My half inch is melting.. I filled up my snowblower earlier.. what a strange storm Some rain and sleet here as well. I do have about 6" from earilier banding.
SnowGoose69
Heavy subsidence. Thats a big problem right now, that band in Suffolk may need to get out of there in order to allow the western band and the area coming down from PA to get something going otherwise those two will have a tough time getting any sort of party started. Brian5671
all of the premature bust calls are ridiculous--let the storm finish and then determine if it was a bust in your backyard...
NorthShoreWx
11.5" here as of 8PM. Temp is 29F. 1.2" new in the past hour...mixed snow and sleet.

loadletterpaper
Coincident with the bright banding dissipating, transitioning from mostly sleet back to moderate snow. Big old flakes again. Edit: Hmm, jumped the gun. Dissipating perhaps overstated, in fact looks to be intensifying into the reds again. But all snow here.

lindywx
cannot believe how badly south nassau is doing compared to the rest of the island It's not just South Nassau....Southern Suffolk, too
Dosh
Flurries have restarted in westfield. still got 3 inches of fluff on top of 1.5" of sloppy sleet
WintersGrasp
Here's my call....it fills in and stays over NJ/NYC for about 5 hours....moderate snow at times heavy right before the storm wraps up and pulls away around 2 am....accumulating an inch an hour at times 2 for an additional 5-10 on top of what we have now. I have about 4....so expecting the 11-14 that I originally was thinking for days. Can't say I'm disappointed if I get it
lisnow66
Nothing here in Westbury the last three hours except sleet. Thought once we got the changeover to snow we would be good. Neither the NAM nor the EURO will come close to verifying for Nassau, queens, and the city. Bad luck that heavy stuff in Suffolk is staying there and not moving west. Unless things change soon, then this is a fairly big bust for sure for those in western Long Island.
Snowlover11
Eh, I dont know where my southern westchester friends have 7.5"+ I measured more 6" then 7+ had a few 5.5" and as high as 7.2" so I'd say 6-7" out there right now Heavy snow at the moment
PB GFI
this post would make sense at noon. not 8pm. for what most were predicting this is shaping up for a huge bust in nassau county. 31* and sleet There's 8 to 12 inches accross the north shore of Nassau and Suffolk. I know the south shore has had a sleet fest. That's why everyone's gets cautioned when they see a model run and blog 96 , boxing day etc. The north shore may wind up with 18 plus Happens
