MaineJayhawk
That band in the gulf is 35 dbz + thats going to be moving in soon Yup, been watching that ... I've been patiently waiting. Winds are kicking up pretty well here ... kinda fun going out to take a measurement and round the house into the wind and get the flakes drilled into my corneas. CTWeatherFreak
Chad Myers of CNN just put up a graphic depicting some amounts. For those of us in northern CT, take note that Manchester is reporting 18.5" as of 11 pm!
Patrick-02540
I am thinking the jackpot location for this storm will be Glastonbury ct... My guess is somewhere NE of Meriden, out of the Triassic valley, back up into the country rock. Maybe Tolland. In that area for Connecticut. Mass may do better over the long haul, no? weatherwiz
Paul, do you have any snowfall reports up this way. I look at BDL obs and they do not match up to what I have just 5 miles east. WOW 50mph gust just now If I get anything I will let you know.
CapturedNature
Just measured 16" (1.1" new past hour) so the rate has come down but still decent. Let's see if we can get another heavy band in here!
dendrite
OT but why wouldn't it read 0 it's instead? They are ultrasonic anemometers...not wind cups. They cake up with snow and just go haywire.
Damage In Tolland
It's going to be interesting how this stacks up against the Blizzard of '78. It will be no where as bad in terms of the wind, but in terms of snowfall and how widespread the heavy snow is. Incredible. We've already had more than what we did then i believe. i didn't live here then..but HFD had 16.
dryslot
Like the way that echoes are filling in behind that band too. Yeah, That band is being reinforced with some stronger echoes behind it

Damage In Tolland
Not sure why NWS changed the wording from "around 2 ft" to 18-24" for SNE. Personally think 20-34" will be the final totals where the heavy banding was tonight. If you were at 15" or so at 9-10 pm, you should get over 30. What if we were at 20-21? SR Airglow
Debating whether to go take a measurement, it's coming down pretty good and I think the drafts are going to make it hard to get a realastic measurement, the piece of plywood I put out as the makeshift snowboard after the plow guy ruined the driveway probably is getting blown on pretty good. Probably close to a foot?, been SN+ for close to an hour now after the disaster dryslot earlier. Just looked out the window, nope, everything blown around like crazy, will find a reasonable place in the morning and get a total. -skisheep
