DomNH
-SN. Crappy flakes, but I assume that'll change once the actual event kicks off tonight and early tomorrow AM. 20F
mattb65
Thank god for the antecedent airmass and early February and thank god for that prolonged cold spell that cooled off the ocean. If this was another 35F rainer while we agonizingly wait for the CF to collapse I think I would have melted down, lol. As it is, I'm in paste heaven, I love this kind of snow, it doesn't accumulate as quickly but it looks awesome plastered to everything.

Bryan
The images coming out of Scituate right now are amazing, can't believe we're just getting into the storm and the water is that wild already. Hate to see a 2010 all over again.

free_man
The force of the wind doubled between 2:40 and 2:49. Sustained like 20mph now.
Mr. Windcredible!
Good news for S CT. All of Long Island is switching over to snow!! dual pol has the mix non the south shore. That band over LI looks sick! Should be closing in on the shoreline in another hour!
Cloudsncontrails
Weatherbug in town is at 28.6F Coventry CT or RI?

Sn0waddict
Good news for S CT. All of Long Island is switching over to snow!! dual pol has the mix non the south shore. Yep, didn't mix at any point. Also Nam sets up the death band over CT and Boston in 6 hrs.
Baroclinic Zone
The CF is wrapping around but should move SE in the next 2 hours I would think. These wrap wrounds suck because it takes a lot longer to head east. Could it not just crash as we dynamically cool from above?
Mr. Windcredible!
Yep, didn't mix at any point. Also Nam sets up the death band over CT and Boston in 6 hrs. I'd say sooner. Around 4pm the shoreline is gonna start ripping.
sankaty
Good news for S CT. All of Long Island is switching over to snow!! dual pol has the mix non the south shore. My mom lives just east of Port Jeff (and has snow now). I've asked her to text me if she she's thundersnow. BTW, really like your probabilistic forecasts. Wish everyone did that. Sn0waddict
I'd say sooner. Around 4pm the shoreline is gonna start ripping. Agree, just going off what the model shows. It's looks great out there now as well, can only imagine what it's going to be like under that band
WeatherX
Really getting smoked here in the 32dbz stuff......can't wait for heavy stuff.
CoastalWx
Could it not just crash as we dynamically cool from above? No that's wrong meteorology. That is dynamic cooling which is going on now. The cf is purely surface driven. I think what may happen is that winds back more north and temps may gradually fall.

RIcoastalWX
32.5/30 - dropping about 1/10 of a degree every half hour. Never mixed with a drop of rain or sleet pellet here. 2.25 OTG Moderate to now occasionally heavy snow. The wet trees are now encased in ice and the snow is sticking more and more to them. Hopefully the temps drop or the snow dries out soon! Winds have increased and have backed more to the NE. Peak gust so far is
Bryan
18z NAM is pedestrian aside of the thundersnows, roof ripping winds and feet of snow. Quick question, I know nobody is supposed to be on the roads after 4, but how high do winds have to be for the Bourne/Sagamore bridges to close? Maine Guide
2:50 pm: 7" of the lightest fluff imaginable on the ground. All morning we had clumps of dry fluff falling. That changed to fine fluff around 1 pm. Temperature has risen slowly from 6 F at 5:30 am to 11.4 F currently. No need to plow, the fluff is so light! Sugarloaf1989
Coventry CT or RI? The weatherbug reading is from Coventry CT and it's now 28.9F. That's from the middle school at about 760' in elevation.
wxmanmitch
Awaiting better forcing from the south. Still -SN, 26° F. Just spoke to my dad on the south fork of LI about 10 minutes ago and they have a rain/snow mix with parachutes after being all rain earlier. CT Rain
That band over LI looks sick! Should be closing in on the shoreline in another hour! A lot of that is bright banding and sleet... but yeah the precip obs on Long Island are >0.1" liquid per hour. Yep, didn't mix at any point. Also Nam sets up the death band over CT and Boston in 6 hrs. NAM looks good to me (to be honest) based on the current setup. Temper its QPF some but it agrees with the Euro. My mom lives just east of Port Jeff (and has snow now). I've asked her to text me if she she's thundersnow. BTW, really like your probabilistic forecasts. Wish everyone did that. Thanks buddy... I am actually really enjoying it!

Sugarloaf1989
Visibility is reduced here now to about 1/4 mile, but I think it's more due to a bit of fog than snowfall which is not that heavy.
