Wow, Rte 31 between Crystal Lake and McHenry has been completely shut down due to the snow. That section of road is really hilly, so I can only imagine what that's like.

Gotta be crazy on that one long hill.

Going to tackle parents' driveway in Bull Valley. Mom says impassable and call the plow but I'm giving it a shot.

I dont know about IDOT (in the case of 31) but I know the County DOT hits that beet juice preapplication hard prior to winter events the past few years. I am sure the rainy cocktail this morning mitigated most of the juice. Seems the compacted snow and slush is adhering pretty well to pavement in spite of marginal temps.

Man, even the 18z GFS is now spitting out about 1.25" of QPF. Dryslot is still lurking to south and if we cut off for any significant amount of time I think my 8-11" amounts are fine. If we don't cutoff, Toronto is probably easily going north of the foot mark.

Brett Anderson saying GTA should be bullseye. He also says primary low tracking a little farther south.
