YHM Supercell
The roads are a disaster here. They've been mentioning on the local news how there haven't been many plows out yet, not even on the main highways. Tell me about it. Hamilton has done OK keeping the main mountain accesses passable. But anything else is an absolute nightmare

OntarioWX
Just got back from a 2 hour long hike through the snow. Wow. Am I dreaming? snowstormcanuck
Seventh consecutive hour that Pearson has reported heavy snow. Eight if you count the hour of moderate snow. Eighth straight hour of +SN excluding the SN. Judging by the expanding 30dbz returns to the west, it's probably going to be 9 or 10 straight hours. TugHillMatt
Just about 9" here. Pretty uniform and not quite as varying as where you live. Yeah, amounts seem to vary a lot in this area. There were many small bands of heavy snow mixed in yesterday. Regardless, there is a lot to clean up in the area.

TugHillMatt
Nice report written up by GRR. Blackrock was definitely the winner in the western Lakes. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/grr/presentations/Storm_Summary_February_7th_and_8th_2013_2013-02-08_17-26-08.pdf my house is right on the bottom of that tiny little circle of heavier snow in southern Muskegon county. Snowstorms
Snowing as hard as it's been since that first downpour earlier this morning. 1.5"/hr stuff. 27.5cm here, just measured and its picking up in intensity as well. May finish with 30cm I find it funny given the 9 hour straight heavy snow at YYZ you'd think there numbers would be exceptionally higher than other stations but.....LOL. i'll think it'll finish with 25cm. They said only 11cm in Hamiltion -___-
WestCoaster
The Pearson and downtown numbers make no sense. Pretty sure they aren't counting yesterday which makes no sense considering their "15-25" forecast was inclusive of last night. Methinks they don't want to eat crow

snowstormcanuck
Their measurements are ridiculous. Like you, I've measured between 11-12". What bothers me is that EC's observations will be the official ones. Every Toronto area climo obs. station, ASIDE FROM PEARSON, usually report what I believe to be representative measurements. So if Buttonville or downtown or North York don't end up jibing with your numbers, I'd suggest there's probably something wrong with your numbers. Or else, there was some microscale or localized phenomenon that delivered more/less snow to your area.

weathernut
not sure why EC is reporting 11cm from Hamilton. YHM reported an official measurement of 28cm at 1pm. Not that any of us in the city pay attention to the measurement way out there. For some reason YYZ and YHM always seem to have strange measuremtns. I'm at 35cm. Best storm in years. Measured a whole pile of flat surfaces in open areas...backyard, the park etc.... and measurements were consistently 35-36cm. The drifted areas are ridiculous. EC saying another 2-4 possible this evening.

OntarioWX
Where can I find data that shows how much snow YHM has received so far? They were at 28cm a while back and it's been snowing hard for a couple hours since then. Anyway, some photos. These were taken from 1-2pm with around 27-28cm on the ground. We've had more since then. weathernut
snow emergency declared in Hamilton. No unnecessary travel allowed. Cars in 'snow routes' must move or be towed...not sure how or where they are going to move. LOL Snowing like crazy again. Blowing sideways. Anyone know where I can look up historic storms for Hamilton? I was out of the country for the infamous 60+cm storm on Valentines Day 2007. This is the biggest since then. I wonder what the biggest was previously, before 2007?

I was in Mexico watching the radar and sending forecasts back to my wife and folks. They returned the favour by sending me just insane pics. My neighbour measured 70 in that storm too. We're going to end up around 35-40 with this storm. I can't fathom 70. LOL.
