Bruinsyear
Plumb Island is going to take another beating. 20-25 foot waves with 2.5-3 foot surge on astro high tide Saturday morning at 10 am....look out! Those 3 houses that were just hanging on last storm will be Taken (just like Liam Neeson).
Brian5671
Most interstates will be shut down till early Sunday most likely LOL-the equipment is alot better than from 1978....
cja1987
Most interstates will be shut down till early Sunday most likely Nah, the interstates will be fine barring a major traffic jam preventing plowing. If there is little/no traffic, its a piece of cake to keep up with. It takes well over 12" accumulated to stop a road plow.
SJonesWX
I share the curiosity about ratios. I don't know how to look at temps in the sgz. I am hoping that my relatively paltry 1.6 qpf can manage to give me 24+ i will be happy with 18+, if i happen to get more, great.
Brian5671
exactly--78 had roads closed for days due the volume of cars...there won't be a soul out after dark tomorrow...
snowman21
Accumulating snow will probably be out of here early Saturday morning. There is even some partial clearing for the afternoon. The major roads will be at least passable by Sat. morning. Side roads or secondary roads may take a little longer than usual, and Sunday will bring pretty good melting. ORH_wxman
exactly--78 had roads closed for days due the volume of cars...there won't be a soul out after dark tomorrow... That's the biggest factor. Equipment will mean very little if they can't utilize it like in '78 or even back in the 12/13/07 fiasco. Good timing on this storm to keep most of the roads clear...could be a few issues tomorrow evening's commute but I imagine most people will heed the warnings. ORH_wxman
Usually the traffic disasters also occur in storms that come in like a wall of heavy snow. 12/13/07 did that, blizzard of '78 did that...this storm will not. We slowly ramp up tomorrow with hours of light snow before the serious stuff. People won't get caught off guard with overcast skies one minute and then 2" per hour 5 minutes later. PineHillsWx
Most interstates will be shut down till early Sunday most likely No way. They will be out in full force and have the roads to themselves tomorrow night. If this was during a week day it would be an entirely different story but the timing couldn't be better for the road crews.

Presser either tonite or early am It's stuff like this that makes me mad and embarrassed to be a CT resident. Mass did closed their interstates in the March '93 storm but left them open in Dec '92. It's a matter of hysteria. Hype it up and they'll close. Deal with it and they stay open.
