MaineMan
SE MA needs more representation. Fair enough. I've been following SE MA less than I should. If I cared, I'd shift the purple down to encapsulate BOS south, excluding cape and eastern Plymouth Co. This is clearly . . . a Maine-centric wishcast! radarman
P.S. It's the world's sloppiest map. Berkshires almost certainly get a nasty deformation band putting them well over 9-12". Not to mention better ratios compensating for slightly less qpf

dilly84
Hope you guys get smashed. I am seriously considering a road trip up that way. Where would be a affordable area to get a hotel room that would still get destroyed? Best choice to see big totals of snow, wind and location to escape is Worcester MA off of the Mass Turnpike! Be careful...start tonight! Take I-80 to I-84, then to I-90. I may be heading up if I can find 3 others to go.

Not to mention better ratios compensating for slightly less qpf Fair--again, probably my Maine-centric nature getting to me. I think ratios are under-estimated by NWS right now; I think it'll by 1:15, min for most . . . with qpf for coastal at or just below 2, 1.5 for points inland, including berks. PWMan
Can you guys understand the Boston mayor when her speaks Mumbles Menino is the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. Coherence is overrated. Like many big-city mayors, he's had an interesting snowstorm-related history. My personal favorite was the big showdown a few years ago over the Townies who traditionally saved "their" parking spaces by placing lawn chairs, traffic cones, etc. (a friend of mine had her tires slashed when she had the gall to park in someone's turf in Charlestown one night). IIRC, Mumbles tried to crack down and eventually backed off. I may not be fully up to speed on what ultimately became of that though, as I moved north in '04. sankaty
So were other past epic busts this far along when they happened or are we beyond the point of no return? Depends what counts as a bust (would 10 inches be a bust in this storm?), but my feeling is that we are never past the point of no return. That said, this storm has a huge margin for error given the size and intensity forecast, so a real fizzle seems very unlikely.

codfishsnowman
terrified about the shadowing here..it seems like every model predicts it...the only hope i have is that the effects are worse north of here..i am on the southern spfd city limits i may never live to see model runs again in my life like this and i just happen to live in the wrong place, i just cant get over how it doesnt matter how monsterous these storms are, they cannot overcome the berks and worcestor hills...you would think i lived surrounded by the cascades on one side and the alps on the other side. its not so bad when its all southeast of here but when the goods are all around and youre on the outside looking in, it stings even more.
