wackymann
I'm supposed to fly from Boston to Nashville Sunday morning. I'm assuming the storm will be over by then, but will the airport be operating normally? I'm trying to decide if I should make some last minute plans/reservations in Nashville. My flight takes off around 9 AM and goes through Baltimore (BWI). I realize that nobody can give me a definite answer - just looking for some opinions on the impact of the storm to the airport, and when it will likely be back to a normal schedule. I would think there will be some very lengthy delays if not cancellations through saturday
TOOTH
How will the mountains of Maine do out of this system? Will 2000 ft plus elevation help increase amounts? Thanks.

mattb65
I mentioned to some co-workers on the north shore that it looks like a blizzard might be coming for friday and one of the women checked the nws site to confirm what I was saying. She came back to my desk and indignantly was like it only says 2-3" Had to explain that's melted water and you typically would multiply that by about 10 to get the amount of snowfall. Needless to say her jaw dropped lol.

Bar? I am 21. I would be driving. I would definitely appreciate it. But if I get to ct I have to keep heading all the way. Its the jackpot. I think my short option is north jersey

I think my short option is north jersey Yeah I know, I'd say BOS or nothing. I just meant if you wanted to shave 2 hours of driving you could hit here halfway and then finish the last 2 Friday morning. Anyway, good luck getting up this way!! You deserve it. MaineMan
Maybe Lewiston. http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php/topic/39203-feb-8th-9th-potential-significant-coastal-storm/?p=2079239 Excellent, thanks. I hadn't checked back into that side of the conversation since coming over here. I figure Bath is slightly south and farther east . . . a bit higher QPF than Lewiston. 1.6 ain't bad! bobbutts
Anyone want to speculate about ratios in various areas? I see very cold air at all levels and off the charts omega on the American models. It seems really good, but I don't really know.

I think ratios will be a little better than that with the deep cold air we'll have. The afternoon disco from GYX should be a good read.

PWMan
15:1 That's what I've been using for all of my weenie calcs as the various model porn has churned out. Based on Don S's Euro QPF rundown in the other thread, that would give me about 30". I definitely don't expect mixing issues with that cold HP parked just above us (above as in N) and the not-too-hostile SSTs that we have at this point in the season. MaineMan
Which model? They are spitting out 1.5"-2.5" 12z Euro Portland @ 1.99/Lewiston @ 1.5~
PWMan
To be clear, I'm not expecting 30" -- but it's not often that we have an opportunity to even type something like that as a hypothetical outcome.
Baroclinic Zone
Dear God. 3.06" of QPF on the Euro for TAN. Seriously. That's a 36" snowstorm right there if that's accurate.
