I thought the opposite.    It was easy to see that a major low should develop near the EC,  the only question to me was whether it escaped east.

 

this looks like a KU pattern?

In much of the Winter Storm Watch area out side the Blizz watch, they are still headlining with:

 

 

"...A POTENTIAL HISTORIC WINTER STORM AND BLIZZARD IS EXPECTED TODROP 1 TO 2 FEET OF SNOW ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION FRIDAY INTOSATURDAY..."

 

Which I think is a very prudent call!
