ACFD FIREMAN
Per the NE threads...unlikely. Travel ban in effect as of 4:00 pm. No one allowed on MA roads now. So a lot of bars closed shop and sent people home. Just talked to a guy at 7-11 and he said there are going to be a few open. Said workers are college kids and can walk home. The bar next to our hotel is closed.

ACFD FIREMAN
Unreal now. Wall of white between the buildings and the wind is insane. Coastal front has past east and the snow is fine. Not going off my equipment going off that I do not hear the wind like we normally do on the house. Although in just the last few mins have heard it on the back door. I may have just been not noticing it.

kurtstack
Okay. I had to come over here to voice my excitement over the potential of seeing a march 1993 type superstorm on President's Day weekend. I was 15 when the superstorm hit, and that storm, the dynamics, the wind, the snow intensity and the size of the storm coverage - florida to Canada was why I got into meteorology. Sure here at DCA the storm changed to sleet and the total at DCA was about 12 inches I think, but the storm itself with the wind and low pressure was insane. We may not see anything like it again in my lifetime, but just the fact that most of the models are onto a full phase monster next weekend, has me more excited than I've been since 1993. I know 2010 was epic but getting a 980 Mb low to track right over dc or just east is something special, at least for me. This was Unforgettable:
